Getting out from behind the wand!
1. What does it take?
2. How can I achieve it?
3. What’s the breaking point?
4. What would be my first step?
5. Is it possible?
6. Will I take a pay cut?
7. How much more can I make in the long haul?
8. Employee headaches related to managing people.
One of the biggest problems is often the small things over looked.
1. Schedule jobs efficiently
2. Procedures to reduce your time and make more profitable.
3. Watching the employee times and studying the production model of your business.
4. Knowing the real cost of running a real business and not managing a job.
People think that this business is easy and that buying a PW is all that you need.
Please realize that this business like any other will need your time and concern to become a real business.

Please post some more question to help Ken and others at the Michigan round table.

If you can help them by posing a question I will today give one guide book free to someone at the end of this day.

Ron, are you going to the Michigan Round Table?

I am a one man show right now and a DBA.
Part of my 3 yr plan is to have 2 rigs running and not be behind the wand.
With that being said, should I consider a LLC or INC ?
Thanks

I was told by a CPA friend of mine,,, That in this lawsuit world we live in that people can file a lawsuit on you for anything... And they will..make sure you have enough liability insurance to cover every aspect of what type of work you do.. I had a friend of mine that does plumbing work almost lose his business because his ladder came off his truck on the interstate and caused a wreck... Isnt that something... This happened 3 years ago and his insurance rates have always been twice what they were when he first started.. We carry 2 million liability .. But how much is enough... HMMM..
Good Luck...

David, as with any serious business decision, consult with qualified professionals to help guide that decision for you. An S corp was the way I started and have been advised to now move to a C corp. What works for my business model may be the opposite of what you need.

I want to know why they want you to move to a C-Corp? It seems the double taxation would kill you.

Goodt hing that I don't do residential. I don't know what I would do with a Campbell Hausfeld start up guide. It probably comes free with the 100 hour machine pictured on the cover.

The opposite is actually true for my situation, Scott. I wish I could give you details of why but it is way too much information to put in public. This is again why I suggest a good CPA and professional tax strategist.

How about a tax lawer?

I gotta tell you Ken, its great advice about the CPA and all. I just needed more.

Ron, the guy we use to strategize for deferment and shelters is a retired tax attorney. He has actually been with Christine's family for 30 years. He is a great resource for investment managers and retirement planners. He comes from old world money. If I can retire with 1/10th of the portfolio this man has, I would be a very rich man.
