Which QuickBook Program to buy or someother?

Ok friends,

I'm going to be purchasing one of these Quickbook programs real soon. I went to their website and answered some questions to figure out which product I should by. The "Basic", the "Pro", or the "Premier(i think)". After answering the questions they suggested just the Basic package.

Or do you suggest someother program?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Roy

Hello Roy,

We have used QuickBooks Pro for many years. I like it. Has some features that we do not use.

I guess I would suggest that you ask for a trial version so you could drive it around the block a few times to see what you think!

I'm using Quick books pro also. There is some features I do not need now. I remember getting a letter from Intuit about the software having some type of problem with the payroll part not figuring the income tax or the ss tax right. I forget which because I don't use that part.

Does anyone use Easy Rout Plus. I downloade a trial of this from www.easyroute.net I haven't had time to get it set up. I was wondering if it was worth changing over it it

Dave,

they have very good products. I've only seen one person who has even tried to know how to use all parts of a program.. that person is my step son. he drives me wacko sometimes. lol.
So it wouldn't hurt my feelings. I have been wanting this program for a while now, but now the itch is getting to bad.

Lenny,

hummm.. tax computation errors?? heck thats why i wanted it, plus to help me be more organized. what version was that, do you remember? how long ago was that, 2 weeks, months or so? anyone else had this type problem before?

my shito~ryu sensi of years back was lenny from va bch, who then moved to williamsburg. had that funny feeling when i saw you here.

i use Quicken Deluxe for my personal banking account. if something were to happen to that, i would literally have a heart attack. my computer went down once for a while and lost stuff on my HD, did i panic or what?? had that good ole back up though.

thanks, for the help everyone. roy

We have been using Quickbooks Pro for the past few years. Right now we have Quickbooks Pro 2001, it will automatically update itself from time to time. This works fine for us. You can buy the regular Quickbooks and use for a while, if you want to upgrade later they have a rebate. Like Dave said you can dowdload a trial version from their website. If you like it you can purchase it online or go to the office store (less expensive there).

quikbooks pro 2002

I just upgraded to quickbooks pro 2002 from the pro 1998 version.

I love the program. The interface is great. Has spell check (I really need this). Allows me to e-mail and Fax bills dirrectly from the program. The bigest feature - you now can have as many open estimates for a customer as you want (the old one allowed only one per customer).

The upgrade cost me $150 ($250 at Staples - $100 rebate from Inuit).

I say go for the Pro!

Tim

Roy,
I never lived in Va beach, I moved here from western Pa 22 years ago. As far as being a sensay, I cann't even spell it.

That problem with the Quick books Pro tax was over a year ago. If I remember right they had a fix for it on their site. I think I need to upgrade to the newer version of Quick books. The thing I don't like about the older verison was you could only do one estimate per customer.

Roy,

don't worry.......any problems they have they will fix just fine.......Intuit is a class act.......

I use Paychex for my payroll though, so I can't help you with any quickbooks payroll related questions.

Like Lenny, I threw out that notice when I got it because it doesnt apply to me.

We use Quickbooks Pro (just upgraded to 2002 version) and are using their Deluxe Payroll Service. It's a great service. Quickbooks does all the calculating and all you do is transmit payroll and print check s. They file all the tax forms for you (I love that part) so there isn't any headache at all.

Beth:)

I too use Q-books and i love it. I use a payroll service for payroll. thats a feature i'm sure would work as well with quickbooks i just dont have the time and cant stand messing with the tax forms.

your Question,,, i think its only a few more dollars to have the pro version. i also believe that it come with free upgrades from the online store. for life,, check that out.

Quick Books Pro 2002 would be my choice

We've been using QuickBooks Pro for years, it's definitely the way to go. Over the years we've looked at ACCPAC, PeachTree and some of the other programs out there just to make sure we were using the best software available, and QuickBooks always came up as the easiest to use with the most features. That's the important part to remember is ease of use. If you like your Quicken the great thing is that Intuit uses the same look and feel for QuickBooks also so it should be a seamless transfer over to the new software.

We are using the QuickBooks payroll service this year versus having an outside service do it in years prior. Cost savings is big enough to justify spending a little time inputting some info into the computer for it to complete the checks.

Good luck with your search.

Also forgot to mention that feature that Tim mentioned - the multiple estimates open per customer - it's great. In prior versions you had to slightly change customer/job names to get different estimates and it skewed report results when you had to combine different jobs under the same customer. Now it's simple to do. Amazing how such a simple feature change can make life so much easier, huh? :)
