Cleaner Times Article

April's edition of Cleaner Times drought article is attached. It is a good read and I personally feel that is was well written and fair.

Kudos go out to everyone in the industry for bringing the drought situation to the forefront.

Relief for Washers www.reliefforwashers.com will continue to keep this topic alive and fresh as we feel that water conditions or lack there of will be a common place for some states. I suspect and believe that Celeste over at www.pwnc.org will do the same.

Again, my personal thanks to all in the industry that took notice of this situation. I am not only speaking about the RFW initiative but also PWNC. Even though there have been some "sticky" situations down this road I am certainly gratified that at the end ~ the industry took note of the drought, responded and benefited - for me that is one step in the right direction.

The PDF for some reason will not upload here on PWI -? I don't know why but it is located over on TGS.

The staff at the Cleaner Times was great to work with! We feel very honored to have had as much attention to our situation here as we did. Many of us are taking the opportunity to use the article to show some of the "non-believers" here that there is an issue that has gleaned national attention in our industry. There are still many that are only focusing on the negatives right now as opposed to helping to educate the customers here....Contradictory information published serves only to muddy the little water we have.

It was a great article.

I can see where contractors who do recovery / reclaimation and distrubutors alike will benefit from the article greatly when compared to others that do not. I was a little bit surprised and pleased to see that RFW has embraced reclaimation in the manner portrayed in the article; it is a good thing and I certainly hope that the RFW/UAMCC will generate reclaimation vendor and distributor financial support to move thier initiative forward. Congrats Carlos... "Hand well played" as Scott K would say!!

Celeste, congrats on your role and significant presence in the article. You have certainly placed PWNC on the map when it comes to awareness and accurate information. I love your "bold quote" in the article. Your strengh is your unhidden agenda. Your ability to move the PWNC forward in the amount of time since its inception, and without a committee or large team, is something that I have not ever seen in this industry since I have been in business. Damn, we are going to change your name to Ms. Pressure Washing.

Congrats to both of you... Good Luck in your respective journeys

If you ask cleaner times, they will send you a color PDF of the file to use for marketing. When we were on the front cover with the CAA project, they sent me one. It is nice to have.

Fyi

FYI... I hope you all got permission from Cleaner Times to post the PDF File. When I was on the front page, I had to get permission from Jim to publish it on the web due to Copyright Law.

I got permission also for the log home story we did.
It's always best to ask...

Reclaim is not needed on commercial properties that have a dry well on premises PERIOD.Why in Gods name would I buy equipment I don't need and why would I sit back and let someone else force me into buying it?I won't and no one else should either.
If you are going to educate contractors tell the damned truth. Not the truth as equipment manufacturers and distributors want it told.

The only time a contractor needs to pick-up and divert water from leaving those properties is if it will make it to a curb and/or storm drain outside/off of a commercial property. Those neat sewer gates you see in the local BK parking lot don't go to a stormn drain they go to on site dry wells.
Picking up waste water and using it on other properties filtered or not is cross contamination, punishable by a fine.
Hauling it makes you a waste hauler,do you have a permit for that? No? Guess what another fine.
Get in a wreck while hauling it and dump a few hundred gallons on the highway.Guess what?Another fine and you get to pay the hazmat clean up fees.

I'm far from a glory hound I could give a flying duck less about the spot light.I want the people who are calling themselves the new captains of this industry to be honest with the contractor instead of blowing smoke up their stacks and convincing them they have to have equipment they don't need.

It's kind of funny that Russ and myself are portrayed as a couple of dumb rednecks, but we both see this the same way.If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck,it almost always a duck.

Man I know no one that thinks you two are dumb rednecks just helpful smart business men

I just read the other thread "The Verdict Is In", and posted some info that the manufacturers are not telling you that you need to know so you are not looking at huge fines and more!

I must be reading a different article. Its not about redneck's or otherwise (that's your own hangup, Scott) I must be the thick headed one as I do not see this agenda that is being mentioned within the words of that article. If Carlos owned a portion of Sunbrite, Delco or any distributor.. I could see the connection. Even if I sold any type of equipment I could see where eyebrows would definitely be raised. Carlos mentioned $800 worth of equipment. Is that where the sticking point is, the number? Maybe that's what he spent on his equipment. I could just as easily counter and say he was defending the contractors against the distributors by indirectly saying "listen, guys you don't need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to be in compliance". You can believe what you want but again, I have the facts since I am involved directly.

It keeps getting mentioned.. stay out of my sandbox. Very few stepped forward and offered to deal with Carlos and RFW directly so no misinformation would be released. The appeal was made many times. Scott and Russ, you guys were offered leadership roles in the RFW for Georgia and Alabama. Am I wrong or did you guys decline that invitation? When you declined inside participation, you also sacrificed the right to start second guessing agendas from the outside looking in, did you not? All that is asked is fair play. Can you have your own opinions? Of course. My question is, what do you hope to achieve speaking your opinions? I think we are all big enough and smart enough to make our own decisions based upon the facts. A fact is not an interpretation of something written by a third party (Cleaner Times). The KKK will show you their interpretations of the Bible telling you to stomp queers and hate all non-whites. That doesn't make them right.

The point is this.. the leaders in the industry are going to be appointed by the contractors, not vice versa. A leader is someone whom makes things happen and leads by example. I believe we all watch to see whom has the savvy, alertness and organization to make changes. Mistakes will be made. Mistakes are a part of business development. If Carlos made a mistake by believing that the inevitable tougher reclaim enforcement is going to be a part of drought recovery, oh well. Let's fix it and move on.

Actually NO I didn't give up my right to second guess anything by refusing the RFW invitation.I gave up the right to sit in and help write bylaws and dictate ORG policy.
That does not imply I gave up the right to speak on behalf of myself or my business.
I will protect the interest of my business when incorrect info is being put out to law makers and governing bodies. You would do the same although it may take place from an ivory tower or wherever it is you look at the world from.
Ken you are a business man and I would be hard pressed to believe you have been working on all of this for so many months if there weren't some benefit to you and your companies in the long run.
I hope by speaking my opinion that the whole idea of buying equipment to GET compliant will be proven incorrect. How many flippin times does it have to be said that reclaim units usage only applies to a small percentage of commercial work most contractors do?
I don't have a redneck hang up,nor does Russ.We are proud of the moniker that is most commonly associated with hard work, honesty and values.

The Uamcc should be talking to citys around the country to become complient correctly.

Ron, I set you up a forum that you requested entitled "environmental issues". The transition team may miss some of your suggestions. That's the best place to post them. Here is a direct link: Pressure Washing Environmental Issues

I wish you luck with the org. I will most likely join when you have the membership ready.

I have stated in the past I will not join another BBS right at the moment without positive ID on all members.

A national org has no business involving opionions of people that they dont even know for sure who they really are. Especially to form and build the foundation.

I'm truly sorry Ken for this strong opionion. You change this and I'll be right over with about 100 guys. I would even volinteer my time perhaps???

Guys, I spoke with Carlos and I appreciate the personal Invite and do truly wish you the best.

I dont want anyone here to miss anything, all here on PWI know i want people to get the best info. If Uamcc has good info I will certainly tell folks to get it.

When you get time i have a question about content on your BBS. I also want to knwo if you guys want or dont want the forum on PWI that you have?

Ron,

The UAmCc forum on this site has been used several times over the last couple of months and will most likely be used in the future. UAmCc suggestions/recommendations as it relates to the organization will be gathered over at the UAmCc BBS - that is one of the main purposes of having the BBS.

I will hold my other comments until after I speak with the Transition Team on Sunday.
