A good deck sealer????

I understand from these forums that Thompson's Water Seal is pretty cheesy stuff. If you were to recommend a good deck sealer, what would it be and where can I get it. I need some to apply to my friends newly built deck that has had nothing applied and has finally dried out (from the pressure treated lumber).

Thanks for any help.

There are alot of good ones,
Olympic Maximum (Lowe's)
Wolman's (Hard to find in my area),
Ready Seal (On-Line)
And the list goes on

The more you use, the more likely you'll run into a personal favorite

Just stay away from Thompson's (everywhere) and Behr (Home Depot)

Thanks

Ronniels, thanks again for the info, you seem to be the answer man for me as of late, LOL. Have a good one.

Even though the deck is fairly new, there is the possibility that it should be cleaned prior to sealing.

As was said above, stay away from thopmsons and Behr. I'd also stay away from CWF UV.

Metman,
You really need to consider your locale.
The demands on product is dramactically differnt in the South verus the North.

The only oil based prodcut I've found to work here is the Olympic Maxum, others have failed after 3 - 6 months. We've moved most of our customers to water based acrylics (WoodRx or Troipitech). These prodcuts will last longer then two years. makes our customers happy and I know we'll get a call for repeat work during the third or fourth year

Wolman

I have only used wolman since ive been in biz. I use the F&P oil and have great results. I do want you to know that when ive applied this to new wood it does not absorb as well as it does to old wood. Call with any other questions 304-842-4000
