Roundtables, keeping them alive…..

I have had three of my own in PHX. I have attended many others that people have thrown.

This year I started in Alabama, Denver, Atlanta, Florida and now NEW Orleans LA,

Next up is Myrtle Beach SC, after that Chicago and then Phoenix AZ,

At all these events things I saw were very different. I think with very different ideals and personalities. I’m sure demographics play a role in the staging.

My reasons for posting it that I want to seek BBS member improvements on round tables.

Should we move to calling these events? Should we set standards and demand schedules?

Most tables are free or very low cost; most people feel that contractors don’t want to pay to attend.

This industry is moving forward with or without. Do you want to be left behind? Do you want the knowledge and power of success?

What are the things you want to talk about at round tables?

1. Do you want buying programs?
2. Do you want live applications instructional cleaning of all types?
3. Do you want organizations present to talk with you about their benefits and assistance? (all orgs Specific to you customers base)
4. Do we want speakers in our industry with only proven success?
5. Should the event holders be insured in case of an accident? (Or should event holder get waivers?)

I have purposely left many things off here to allow you the members to help give your ideas and opinions on what you would like to see at the next round table.

Please don’t anyone take offense, these are just questions that have come up and nothings in stone for future ideas. We just want some input.

Thank you,

Should we move to calling these events? Should we set standards and demand schedules? I would call them events and have a round table or tables durring.

What are the things you want to talk about at round tables?

1. Do you want buying programs?
2. Do you want live applications instructional cleaning of all types? would be nice but hard to do
3. Do you want organizations present to talk with you about their benefits and assistance? (all orgs Specific to you customers base) orgs are vendors to me they should pay for there time
4. Do we want speakers in our industry with only proven success? yes and I would also include speakers outside the industry as well i.e marketing, sales and other professions
5. Should the event holders be insured in case of an accident? (Or should event holder get waivers?)Waivers otherwise it would add to cost of putting these events on and may deter some from having them

Thank you,

Support from your local contractors is a huge plus!

Kory speaking of that while I'm thinking of it... Are you still planning on some of us getting together? I would love to attend. :)

How about inviting HOA members and Property Managers to sit in and spread the good word for us? Maybe we offer them lunch and a free demo to get them in. Then we turn them over to the closest competent contractor in our network to submit the bid.

That is exactly where the local RT's or Chapters need to take this to the next level. Commercial guys getting in front of food service orgs etc.. This is the value of pooling resources.

That is a great idea and one I thought of also. I am not this time, but if I hold another RT I might. Tell you the truth, I was worried someone might say all PM's suck or be insulting. I've just heard sooooo many negative comments about PM's on these BB's I didnt want to take the chance. These PM's are professionals and some of the negative general comments I have read are not. Insult one of my PM's I would have to kill LOL I LOVE MY PM's

I am in a few orgs. I sponsor meetings often you have to be a part of something to get something

Good thread!!!!

I couldn't agree more i joined my local Rotary Chapter this spring and it has increased my business by at least 10%. Just last night my Ins Guy invited me to the Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. I was like man i can't afford to go right now (tickets are 150 a person) he said i got an extra so you can go as my guest. Well i went and i have a meeting with the owner of 2 HUGE assisted living communities next Tuesday about power washing for them. Needless to say I'll be joing Chamber very soon as well.

I also think social events like that are fun and can never be bad for business. The mayor was at that banquet last night and when they see how young i am and how driven i am i think it actually helps me reel em in!

Every one should find some local clubs and get involved IMO
