Long distance quotes

How do you guys handle some of your long distance quotes? I will drive an hour or so away to quote shopping centers but now I have been asked to quote one that is a three hour drive one way.

I have the SF of the walks so that is not a problem. My concern is they also want a building wash quote for the front and rear. The back of the center is what concerns me the most. No telling without going there what that looks like.

I use a combination of the different mapping options....

google maps has a 'my maps' section - if you select the 'distance measurement tool' it gives you pretty accurate distances.

Live maps is great to give you a zoomed in real-time perspective with 'birds eye view'.

I also use google earth which also has a good measurement tool and is good for perspective also - although I don't like how it zooms in on a flattened image.

If Live maps had measurement tools I would use that every time as it has better quality imaging.

... I was asked to price a job 2 hours from me yesterday - used the mapping tools, got price back to (a happy) Property Manager within 30 minutes and am doing the job this week!!!

:D

3 hours away , where you heading ?? Heck I drive to senatobia and memphis to give quotes that s about 3 and a half hours .. You will get it back at the end of the year , Just keep a log book and write off those miles... I also always ask this,, " If we can get right on the price , when are you looking at having this service done ?" This helps you to know wether it is going to be done that week or 2 years from now..

The shopping center is in Augusta. I already do several for this PM company. Hoping to get more of theirs under contract in 2009. I don't like to bid without seeing them especially if they want a quote for cleaning the building. I'll check out what I can see with the mapping tools but I'll probably end up getting up early on Saturday and driving there.
