You know how hard it is to get started with new business. Initial start up, advertising, registering your business name etc...Well, we researched copyrighted names, images logos, had an original drawn up and yet...

Dang that sux... Sorry to here that.. And I was thinking of becoming Rebel Hood Cleaning or Bulldog Pressure washing>> LOL. Oh and lets not leave out The Golden Eagle floor cleaning service.. WOW I would keep the name and put a different picture of a hog on your stuff... Hogwash has nothing to do with the school unless you consider maybe their football team >>>>

I don't think your logo looks like the razorback logo. You don't mention razorbacks in your ads, I think they have a slim case. mho

"Confusingly Similar" yeah right. We wouldn't want anyone enrolling in your company thinking it's a college. They have bird dogs looking for this stuff everywhere. This is the down side of Google rankings. The singular use of HOGS is total BS. I can actually see the red hog being a possible problem.

I think I'd contact the University just for the hell of it. Maybe forward to the dean of the law school. It says in the letter the Univ can approve it. Sometimes these types like using these things as a learning tool. Ask them what types of changes you could make to comply. The CLC lawyers won't say any changes will work their job is to intimidate. It's a form letter from a junior law clerk. They won't bring out the big dogs unless you ignore a couple of these. I would send any response in writing via US mail with a return receipt.

Maybe do a press release to local media. David vs Goliath etc. If nothing else it may get you some work.

Just an FYI Your website comes up a little weird on my Firefox and IE browsers. Width is much too large for even my 21" monitor.

That sucks! How long were you operating under the name?

BTW, did you notice they called you Ms? Even though the address has you as a Mr. Maybe they are confused there at the university.

I just got off of the phone with the clc legal aide, I think you are right about their job is to intimidate. also you're right about them not saying what changes I need to make to comply. I just sent an email to the university of arkansas copyright lawyer stating my case and asking her what changes I could make to comply with their requests. Hope that works out.
I do hate the way my site comes up on other screens. I do need to fix that. thanks. scott p.s. as for your first point I wonder if anyone joined my company thinking its a college could I give out sorority charters:D

Good news and bad news.......
First the Good news.....All of my signs just got here! 3- 3x2 signs for my trailer
3- door magnets for my truck....and 5- yard signs. woo hoo, oh wait I can't use them....bad news. I think I'll go and buy a lottery ticket.:)

I work at a bar called Hog's Breath Saloon. I wonder if the use of Hog's in the name is copyright infringement. Maybe it's just the red cartoon hog. Don't they have better things to do than bother a buisness in another state that has no affiliation to thier school? We have a drink here that has been served since the 70's called a Hog wash. Is that copy right infringment?

I wouldn't let them run you off from your logo just yet. Often it's just an intimidation play. I used to own a domain call targetpromotionals.com and within about 3 months (before I even uploaded a site) I recieved a letter from the attorneys representing TARGET Stores (as in walmarts competitor). Same BS but nothing ever came of it.

I hope nothing comes of it. You do have a cool logo. It would be a shame to have to change it. It may be as simple as changing the color of the hog from red to blue.

That sucks. Sorry. Hope you get to keep your name and logo
