Delco price list hurting the industry,

It suddenly dawned on me why the price list was as it was. It had nothing to do with contractors, but helping new contractors in the industry, yet keep the prices low enough that they would not last long. Deco made money by selling equipment, and instead of counting on repeat business, they counted on unknowledgeable contractors repeatedly entering the business. The effort to paint the industry as identical in every city is something that has hurt a lot of people. The cost of living in Phoenix is half that of San Francisco or New York. A place like Louisville is likely less than even Phoenix. That means that even charging less a contractor in a lower cost of living area can live in a nicer home, and end up with more cash in the bank.

Scott, you are becoming as cynical as I am. But your theory certainly seems to fit what we have seen unfold over the years.

This is why I like regional events. We don't have algae out here, but we have gum that the sun has turned into granite.

Having worked with some national companies even large box store chains realize the fact of regional pricing differences. And there are regional environmental differences too. Even personal interactions with customers have regional differences.
