Delco price list hurting the industry,

Residential is very difficult, I do believe you can have a baseline.

I like menu's, i like having a pricelist. I mail my pricelist out.

Anyone what a copy just PM me.... your on my mailing list.

Nothing wrong with having a list of YOUR prices. I am talking about a list for OTHER contractors with OTHER variables to use as thier own prices.

I think the thing most people aren't understanding with the purpose of "having a price list" is than ALL major industries have a book that standardizes pricing jobs.

Go into a bookstore and you can see the National Construction Estimator book and in the back it has Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC and Painting books available. I know there is even one for people with sign businesses.

How you adjust your prices from there is your business. Yeah, those prices on the Delco list are 'out of touch' with today's business model.

I've made a menu thanks to a conversation with Ron, and it has helped tremendously.

KEC is also very difficult, and should not be treated with such disregard. As a KEC salesman, you must base your quotes upon many variables, such as: type/volume of cooking, type/size of hood, constuction/layout/length of ductwork, accessibility, etc., etc. These price lists do VERY little, if any, good for the industry. Please do a favor for the Pressure Washing Industry, and quit giving this type of garbage a ranking on search engines.

Chris, my pricelists online.... The pricelist in question is very low and is used and causes us all problems.

The reason you have hacks is not because of good solid info on pricing but bad advice and outdated material.

Thanks for sharing that info Gary, I have not seen you around in a long time.

How have you been?

I'm glad I could help you.

Every industry has hacks, but that doesn't justify posting BAD info on a PROFESSIONAL forum. This price list would be classified as bad advice/outdated material, just as the KEC Price List, IMHO.

We are trying to update it...

Pricing Update

Ron:

can you create a thread just for pricing update survey?

I can, are people not e-mail and helping? I thought this thread was getting that done.

I will look at the flatwork and post the a list of what I think it should be.

I do have to admit that possibly a disclaimer should be used on the new list.

I'm sorry i just don't get it??? I thought for sure doing some stuff like using a industry wide pricing list was something like "price fixing" and is quit illegal (and before any of you jump my ass here is my proof http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_fixing)

I think that this GARBAGE should be taken out of the industry all together. How does it help?
Personally i see no way how a national price list will help what so ever. You just telling people the going rate and like i have heard Mike say a million times the going rate is the going out of business rate!
Who does it help?
It helps not a single qualified professional company because these companies know THEIR numbers and know how much they need to make. Just because company A only want to pay the owner 35k a year, how am i supposed to use those same prices and pay my self 100k?? Maybe I just over charge?

Naw that can't be it, I mean i know Ron says i don't know pricing and you know to think of it he might be right . . . I must be crazy wanting to make 400/hr like i did yesterday cleaning houses!!!!!

I'm sure my vote DOESN'T COUNT but i say sweep this JUNK under the rug and leave it there !!!

DJ is right & with a nation our size with many econ. locations & factors - price is not a consistency issue up for debate - price depends or many factors and should not be taken off a list.

I mean, makes sense to me that if you are going to have an industry list for all to see (contractors, customers alike), you should make the listed prices way high. That way:

1) A new contractor starts out with high prices.

2) If he doesn't, at least his lowball prices will still be good.

3) Customer expects high price.

So just fill out the Delco list with real high #'s!

Man DJ, you been kind of snappy lately, whats the matter you aren't getting laid or something? LOL The question is can you make that $400 an hour every hour everyday. Even Mike says he only works a couple days a week doing his washes often, thats good for him but might not work for others

I dont really care about a price list, but you know something I wish I had one when I started out. I didn't know about these BB's and I was low, why because I talked to two other guys one a company that had been around for 6-7 years and I went off there prices. YUP $75 -$80 dollar house washes in 2000 -2002. Thats what they charged I knew some homeowner that got their houses done by the two guys. Sure would of helped having a better guide

So if I didn't know pricing how many others just dont know better, maybe a list would help keep prices up and then we might not have to fight the lowballlers as much

I agree with Fife as a base price keep it on the high end. Sort of like the suggested retail price, we all have seen SRP and its always high then there's the real world

Ok, maybe we should do it by state…LOL

Guys it’s a baseline, the current list is bad.

This is not a debate about price fixing or anything else.
It’s to help Robert at Delco Change a list that been there and that is going to be there better.

I have pricelist online for customers, pricelist have not been bad and help me get business easy. Customers I have can often estimate there own jobs.

This list is a baseline, each and every business person around the country knows there own numbers. They should use it as a guide and not fact.

DJ that is all fine and good and I love it when that happens just like the next guy but take from me and my experience I GUARANTEE you will make more money if you find your niche and stick to it and devolip a baseline price for your service. We have done that and I swear I dont know where I would be today if I had learned it sooner, probably on a cruise some where checking my accounts !

My personal oponion is this, nevermind looks like you have decided who you want to model your business after. Good luck, if you are headed in the direction it appears you will need it, few make it that way but on another note some are successful I hope you will be one too.

When I started a year ago I admit I used the Delco list as a price guide. I adjusted up and down according to what potential clients reactions were. Some of the prices are right on and some are way low. I am still trying to learn the art of pricing. Sometimes I just take a lower paying job because I need the cash. But at the same time I am not lowballing anyone. I have turned down a few jobs because the owner wanted to hagle me on my pricing. I am willing to adjust a little but at the same time I can't afford to do alot of jobs at the Delco price list rates. If I did I may as well work at the mall.

I still have a general price list but adjust to every job site. The Delco list gave me a starting point and experience raised my rates.

Russ, I heading to KY. his crews are making alittle under what mine make a week. 16,000...

Based on those numbers i'm all in. thats 832,000 a year per crew. My ears and eyes are wide open.

I'm looking online for a home in KY.
