    Share a tip or trick!

Over the years I have learned a number of things that have helped me streamline jobs and make my life easier. Please share something that has made your line of work easier.

Mine is the Poormans X jet

My units are trailer mounted with 200ft of hose on each. For long distances i.e backs of houses I put my Down streamer at the end of the 200ft then add another 50ft of hose this makes the chems much stronger. It can be a little bit os a P.I.T.A. but it gets better results and makes thing go faster for me.

I love my 0040 Soap tip it keeps me off of ladders and saves me time from going back to the truck to get lance extensions.

Taking the trigger gun off my surface cleaner adding a coupler and just using the ball valve to shut it down.

BALL VALVE WARNING !!!!!!! FOR DUMBA$$e$ LIKE ME

BALL VALVES...WHAT A BEUTIFUL THING, HOWEVER

Seeing as how I was in the plumbing biz for nearly 20 years I should have known better....but I did'nt.

Walking across a gas station lot alone pushing my S.C. at 1 A.M. and BOOM looked back and there was my hose doing the F.U. dance between a couple of pump islands... yep a complete break away. Made it to the machine for shut down rather than wrestle hose down.

The point to all this is.. if your goona use a ball valve DO NOT GET IT FROM LOWES !!! Get a high pressure ball valve. I know I know... I can hear you now. What dingleberry does'nt know that?

Well I of all people should have but didn't

    My 2 cents

I just use a zippy tie on all my triggers and use the ball valve for shutting down and removing my gun or sc. Not having to hold that trigger all the time gives you soooo much more freedom to move around and cuts down on fatigue. I could never see me holding that trigger for a whole job anymore. I feel my hands cramping up just thinking about it.

Had a ball valve and it wasn't long before it needed like 100 ft/lbs torque to turn it on, then the handle snapped. Is there a way to prevent that?

larry, do away with the gun, pop in a reducer with a quick connect and pop your nozzle holder in. lot less weight and you can tuck the hose under your arm while your on the phone or whatever.

I like to have a gauge on everything.

Pressure gauge on pump head or unloader

    Thermometer on outlet of coil

Fuel pressure gauge on burner - Should be a quarter inch port on top of fuel pump

Vacuum gauge on engine air intake - shows you when filter is worn.

May have just been the brand/quality of valve. I've had one for about six months now and it works like new. Our environment is very corrosive as well and we run acid through it.

I like it between the swivel ball valve and the trigger gun it was sticking out way to far. I know this probably won't work on every surface cleaner but it works great on the Ground Force.

Here's a good trick - Set up orange cones around your rig!

Sounds simple but it's amazing how people really slow down and pay attention when they see bright orange cones.

When I'm parked on a busy street people fly by at 50 mph when your pulling out hoses and unloading the truck. Throw a few cones out and they instantly slow down to a crawl. Try it, it's great!

Also attracts attention to your truck lettering/ signs.

A second hand tip I stole from Button. Quick couplers at the hose reel so you can disconnect if you need to chase water etc without rolling 300' hose up.

The ball valve is an incredible time saver.
