Mold, Mildew, ?

Look at the photo below. I m-jetted 6% on this and nothing. The only thing that would take it off was hot water and a shooter nozzle. Is my mix too weak or has anyone else cleaned this stuff before. The surface is that crappy porus stucco mess.

Hmm looks like maybe soot to me.

When Mold gets to that stage (Black) it is much more difficult to remove. A stronger % is usually required to kill and remove it. Ever notice how light green mold is easier to remove? Your mix may have just been a little too weak thats all.

true some times around the seals on garages and windows there is black mold and i have to go stronger on them.

There have been times where on Concrete, Stucco, Drivit, etc... where even straight 6% did not work, had to use a little pressure to clean.

It would be nice if we could chemically clean everything but in the real world, sometimes it does not work that way.

Those tanks I did last month, one was concrete and guess what? The chems did not work on that stuff and I tried many things. I had to get up close and personal with a little pressure and most came off. Used the wand on 24,880 sq.ft. of concrete walls, I wish the chems would have cleaned it but you have to take the good with the bad.

I just had the same situation and could not get rid of the black stains with chemicals. I used a ladder and extension wand so that I could hit it with a little pressure and it came right off. good luck

I think the old yellow extenda pole will actually get used tomorrow to finish this job. I will post after pics when i get done

Mold & mildew that is real black on stucco/dryvit often takes extra coatings of strong mix and maybe some careful pressure
What I also have used on stucco dryvit recently on the black streaks is Simple Green it really has worked wonders, Xjetted it straight adding no water other than the Xjet water and I have soft brushed it on. Works really good on the stucco/dryvit black streaks on the drip edge and other areas. You might want to buy a couple gallons of it and try it

I even thought about caustic but will try the simple green as well

Be VERY careful with any cuastic on dryvit/stucco you can sttrip the coating and or color out of it. The simple green is safe all times I have used it, little bit of buytl

Heres a site for Dryvit it should have all the leaning procedurs I have the small book on cleaning instructions and suggestion from there. We will be doing a high rise and the builder gave it to me

You have to be very careful when dealing with Dryvit or Stucco as pressure can blast a hole through it or blast it off the building.

There are a few houses here where they hired someone that was not careful or not educated about Dryvit and blasted the surface and caused a lot of damage trying to get mold/algae off.

From what I heard is that the person got paid did the damage and left and they have been looking for them to come back and pay for the damage. Like that person will come back and pay. hahaha You get what you pay for and sometimes pay for what you get. hahaha

Sometimes stains have been there too long and are in the surface and you need to re-coat the surface or paint. You need to know when to tell them that you can't help them instead of doing damage to their property.

I just tried to clean house that had rust stains into the stucco and very bad black streaks that had been there for many years that would not come clean with several products that I tried.

I told the homeowner that they will have to talk to a person that applies the stucco or a painter to take care of the stains because I could not get them out. There were some places that the stucco was coming off the building and I showed them before I started so they knew they would be paying a stucco contractor already but wanted to try to clean the surfaces first.

alright, i have no way of getting 12% this weekend however i used 6% straight and had no luck. Cold water did nothing, the only thing that would budge it was hot water. I did not see any simple green at the home depot however i will try that tomorrow as well along with 12%. I am trying to get all their accounts 35+ and not being able to complete this job is not going to make me look good

I know the home depot here only keeps it in the pool section during the summer
