All states have Federal Guide lines though some do not enforce them.
Here in California, we HAVE TO COMPLY with Local, State and Federal Guidelines. The Federal Guideline being the least restrictive.
Here is just 15% of what we have to filter by law.
Here is only 15% of what we are responsible for filtering out in a Parking Garage Cleaning that is required by the EPA, SWQRCB, CCCSD, Lake Tahoe limits are even stricter, MUCH STRICTURE.
Metals:
Antimony, Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Mercury, Nickel, selenium, Silver, Thallium, Zinc.
Oil and Grease limits is 300 mg/l
Biochemical Oxygen Demand
Chemical Oxygen demand
Total suspended Solids
PH LIMIT (5.5 to 12.4) This is sometime hard to reach due to the amount of oil or detergent you use and or pick up.
The list requirements goes on from:
Haloethers to Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons
FROM.... Base-Neutrals / Acids ( about 48 of them ).....TO... Volatile Organics
Fines in California are as high as $10,000 per incident and 1,000 per gallon of Grey Water that seeps into the underground drinking supply.
