In 6 years in business, I just got on the networking bandwagon about 6 months ago. I have met some interesting - and not so interesting - people, and learned a lot. In fact, today, Larry Millett taught me how to pressure wash, Thanks Larry! Seriously though, as a result of networking on this and other boards, I have learned more about pressure washing and business building in the past 6 months than I did in the prior 5.5 years. Most of the people on these boards will help you and lead you in the right direction if you are looking for it.

It was really good talking to you today Jonathan. Like DJ said in his article. Networking is not just a way of gaining more income, it is a way of gaining priceless friendships. I currently network with many Painters, Carpet Cleaners, Pool Cleaning Companies and with many on these boards from Kasey of Brooks Pressure Washing-Joe from Amen Pressure Washing, Chris from Apple Roof Cleaning, Kory with K&J Pressure Washing and Nick The Cleaner from Nicks Pressure Washing as well as many others who are in my area. We have shared jobs together, passed work on to each other when calls have come in from out of our area and always stay in touch. The money can be real good from networking but nothing can replace the frienships that I have gained from getting to know the guys that I network with. Thanks guys! :)

<HR style="COLOR: #0000cc" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Ron, I'm sorry this took so long.

Hello, I'm Lenny Schrecengost from Virginia, with my sons Brian and Jeromy we have Lenny's power Washing. I started my business inthe spring of 2000 part time. doing residential cleaning. I wanted to grow and do commericialso I bought a hot water machin in the spring of 2001. That fall Ron started a training thread "Shopping Centers"
Basicly he tought anyone that wanted to learn how to make unsolicted proposals. I never thought it would work untill I tried it. The first pm I contacted I did a test demo. We never did clean that small center but he gace us several large ones.
That pm has moved aroud so much I lost tract of him but we still give unsolicted proposals. I like to have a price prepared so the first time we get to talk to the general manager or the p m of a property we can give them a quote.
Any newbies or anyone that wants to grow their business should look up the thread on PWI .

Attending the Florida Round Table has helped to focus my business activities.

By listening to contractor experiences and talking to skilled business owners, I have taken some valuable information to implement in my own operation. For example, the week following this meeting was spent 'fine-tuning' my marketing approach and further defining my target markets. If I had not attended, I would undoubtedly still have been wasting time and money chasing the wrong people.

I have grasped a thorough appreciation for the importance of networking both inside and outside the industry. This has resulted in a concerted attempt to get my company name in front of as many people as possible - signed up for 2 industry related conferences in the month after this Round Table!!

Kory & Ron have laid some strong foundations for future Florida contractor meetings.

Thanks Steve, I dont if you remember you sent that.

I have learned allot here at PWI. Everyone here has been very supportive. I never new about chemical cleanings before I was active here on PWI. I have met allot of very intelligent people and professionals as well. PWI is full of people who want to pass knowledge on and those who want to learn. NO ONE MAN has all the answers, but as a collective, the knowledge presented here is hard to beat.

This year, I am planning on doing a test. Under CONTROLED situations, I plan on using Caustic vs. our way of doing things. We will heat the water to only 180 degrees with the caustic on a garage oil stain.

Details in the months ahead.....

Thanks Jim,

I have learned a lot of things from here, dealing with PM's is one of the things I needed most, not being in sales ever in my life. I have gained a lot of inside info from this site and the RT. I have also been given help with different types of cleaning jobs that I had never done and wanted to make sure I was going about it the right way, so PWI is an Valuable Tool for Me and I'm sure everyone that uses this BB.

I know even just a small tip from anyone on here can help make you more Successful and grow your business.

Thanks Steven, how did those help you with your business almost a year later?

Thanks Steven, how did those help you with your business almost a year later?

Got a list of contacts and properties that I could put 2 sales people on (just need the cash flow first!!)... Contracted on a few centers with an established national leasing company, which is growing in PM industry... On multiple vendor lists (pick up a bit of 'one-off' non contract work)... Understand needs and wants of my target better and better serve them.

My company is now a member of 2 industry organizations and a member of a statewide community property investment group.

We have a strong base... Just the typical challenges that small businesses face. If we can make the same progress in this coming year - we'll be in a good position.

We attended our first roundtable this year in Alabama.

To be able to network with as many folks as we did was such an amazing thing. If you have not been to an RT, I would strongly recommend that you get yourself to at least one this year to meet the other people working alongside you in this industry.
Talking (well…”typing”) to one another on the boards is one thing, but meeting people in person is another! And let me tell you, there are some great people in our industry. It was so great to put names with faces.

The actual roundtable itself was very educational and we learned a ton. As everyone says, you also learn a lot when its over and everyone is just hanging out, conversing with one another. The conversations that we had afterwards were as good as gold to us. Thanks to Chris Chappell, Larry Millette, Steven Button, Mike Cooke, Jeff LeCours, Thad Eckoff and of course Ron and Russ. (I know I am forgetting folks and I’m sorry!) We made some great friends! I want to thank each and every one of you for sharing your knowledge with us. I also was so excited to meet and hang out with Nicole (Sunbrite) and Stacie Spence. You guys are awesome.
We were also happy to meet face to face with a lot of the distributors. Bob, Pete, Robert H. Very cool to see who everyone buys from.

After the RT we actually came back and restructured our business a little bit. We knew what we needed to focus on and it was all because of what we learned at the RT and the conversations that we had with others.
