Wal-Mart Wastewater Policy For Pressure Washing

HAULING WASTE WATER REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL INSURANCE POLICY - It is called a pollution policy and it is VERY expensive - I believe the minimum premium is $2400 annually with a sizeable deductible.

Carrying waste water off site is not covered under your CA or GL policies! Please be careful with this!

As for Walmart & their no dumping thing - I was told by a waste water person last year that water cannot be dumped on site because the filters that are installed on Walmart properties do not have an unlimited capacity - they have a life span and they are not capable of handling the amount of water that a cleaning company would be discharging. Bottom line is that they were not being asses, their facilities just can't handle it therefore, other methods have to be implemented. All of ours here are nasty because of it.

Just some info I have picked up recently :)

Our Walmart gets cleaned more often than Sam's club here in Maryland.

I am friends with the gas station attendant at the local Sam's club, and they use a dry product to clean up on occasion.

479-204-5555 Luke Enviro engineer wal-mart, he can send the docs. Under my agreement I cannot supply a copy to anyone. They should be able to get you one.

Robert I sent you his number.

thanks ron How many power washing companies would put this kind of information up (publicly) to help others....way to go Pwi

What about the sewer connect on the property?

What about the sewer connect on the property?

That's what I'm wondering. I'm already approved and permitted to discharge to sanitary sewer by by local sewer district. I had to have a sample of my wastewater analyzed by a lab for this to be OK.

Ron - Thanks for the call earlier this morning. I actually spoke with my contact and he got me the "Sidewalk Cleaning" scope of work that Wal-Mart requires. I have it in .pdf form if anyone wants a copy, just email me and I will forward it on. I couldn't figure out how to post a PDF.

The requirements are from 2007-2009. It states that contractors cannot discharge on-site for the first year, but after the first year (now) on-site discharge is acceptable. Totally confusing.

Do you do any Walmarts John, with your swabby?

No. I did put a Bid in a couple of years ago but we were way to high but considering all that Walmart wanted done in that RFP they should have paid alot more for there stores to be clean. Pretty much by me the Walmart stores flatwork looks like crap.

Just picked up several Wal-Marts for weekly and monthly surface cleaning. They require reclaim. I'm having a hard time finding out what Wal-Mart is going to require me to do with the captured waste water. Will I be able to filter and dump it on-site into a landscaped area? If I have permission from my POTW, can I just discharge down the sanitary sewer on-site? I will be doing sidewalks only.

For those of you that do Wal-Marts and reclaim, what is their policy on discharging waste water?

I've searched countless threads and web pages about this question but I can't find a solid answer. Thanks for any help.

Do you still have them? :indecisive:

You know after reading what wallmart wants and what they are willing to pay they can clean it themselves. This is just insane. They want you to have big time insurance, reclaim, take all water offsite and pay you peanuts for it. They can keep it. Wash it yourselves. Im not sending a crew of two to clean all that and dump at a station for 150-200 bucks. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't Walmarts have underground retention so you don't have to reclaim???
Doesnt state that in our contracts with USM. Im dropping all of mine. Im done, the new PM is an as..ole. See ya. dont need emm. Good luck.

I will say this. About two weeks ago we were coming home and passed the Wally World by my house. I saw steam so swung the truck and trailer around and employee and myself never laughed so hard. Three guys. One was obvious supervising. Took the other two to push the Scirroco surface cleaner. They were reclaiming back into the wash tank. With chems being used. No seperators. No logo on the truck. No DOT number. (Was a F450 or F550 flatbed). Im sorry I guess its back to the "you get what you pay for"...

Did you counter? I got my price, I cannot publically say the price. Ask your price and you might be surprised.

Too many people "buy stuff" to do a job without asking the supplier enough questions,
and following through with their research.
You're right, WalMart got what they paid for.

By the way.. a vacuuming surface cleaner has to be adjusted for the surface you're cleaning
..and strength of the vacuum.
There's NO excuse for that tool being hard to push.
..especially if it had a Sirocco lable on it.

this is a reminder..
train your crew, so they don't look like idiots on-site,
and to limit liability problems.

Jerry,
I agree. I have one of the units myself and its very easy to handle. Maybe I came across the wrong way but it was meant to be "I was laughing" at the fact that these contractors obviously were working way too hard. And I know what they are getting paid here and for Three people to go out and work that hard was just ridiculous in my opinion.

150 to 200 bucks I agree, however I pay $35 for every 1000 gallon.
