Strange . . . Very Strange.

I was doing a job in a residential neighborhood yesterday when i noticed a guy stepped up on my trailor looking around. I politely told him that my insurance regulations would not allow anyone around my equipment and asked if I could help him. He said he was just seeing what the "big machine" was on my trailor. He walked back to his truck and left. A few minutes later i came back around the corner and he was all the way up on the trailor looking around. When i approached him the second time he quickly got back in his truck and left again before i could say anything. I inspected everything and did not notice anything gone or tampered with. The homeowner did not recognize the man or his truck. Just thought that was strange.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I have to believe he was trying to rip you off of something. :( If he wasn't then he was trying to check out your rig to get better ideas.

You were getting scoped out for theft more than likely.

There is never a good reason or excuse for a stranger to be on your trailer, don't be gullible and fall for their B.S.

You should have ran to him and started kicking his a** since you did tell him nicely to get off your trailer the first time.

Chances are now he knows what he wants and will wait until you are occupied or have someone distract you and steal from you. This happens here a lot.

These are the jobs when having a helper or another set of eyes on your trailer really comes in handy.

Go and make sure that your equipment is covered on your commercial insurance policy, if it is not then get it as you are probably going to get hit soon.

Don't assume you have the coverage, read the policy. I found out after my first year that I did not have the coverage and I was pissed off and dropped them for lying to me. I told them in the beginning that I needed the equipment covered and when it was written I did not read it.

Now I make sure that I have it because if you do not verify it is there, you are out of luck when something bad happens.

Good Luck.

If a thief thinks you are a pussy or complacent he is going to rob you no doubt.

Next time you see a strange man scoping out your eqpt in the scenero you described (coming back for another look bro wtf!) choke the ever loving shiot out of them and they will leave you alone.

Criminals are not afraid of the law, why do you think the same folks get arrested over and over again.

I remember my dad saying " you don't mess with a working mans tools"

good luck.

Grab that tire knocker you keep under your seat to check trailer tires with. Kneecap the bastard. If you have time and a camera on your cell phone try to take a pic of him or the back of his truck as he leaves.

They better have a damn good reason to be in my trailer.

Anyone standing on your trailer is up to no good, you already know how i feel about scumbags. So i concur with an asswhooping or just a couple of warning shots over the head will do just fine!!!

So the only thing Strange about what happened, was your reactions!!

I would have pulled out my gun and said " if you really want to see something come and check this out".

Trust me, I was plenty PO'd when I saw him on there the second time. I was headed over to confront him but he bailed soon as he saw me. All I could tell bout the tag was it was handicap. I figure he was looking to steal something. Just surprised he returned so soon the second time. I hate a thief ! Good luck to you guys.

I think guns are a bit too much for this and would land you in jail. Bad advice IMO...You are no better then a thief if you run around wielding a gun. False sense of security.

Although, this is how you feed your family, you don't want to end up in jail.

Woop his ass like a man with your hands. Somebody waves a gun at me and doesn't kill me they gonna get worse...

Chokes are a great way to get through thick criminal minds and it will hold up in court.

You shoot or pull a gun out, especially some low life career criminal and you can expect some hungry lawyer will take the case and own your eqpt in the end.

Whisper in his ear as you choke him.."do you want to breath?"

Consider yourself very lucky.

With that attitude, and not checking out your trailer every few minutes or less after the first visit, you could have been wiped out.

The first visit should have warned you to keep a better eye on your stuff.

Keep everything chained or cabled down to something so it would take a lot of effort to remove.

I think that you get the idea from most of us that if someone was on any of our trailers, he probably would have been shot or got an ass whoopin.

Use this as a learning experience, theifs will lie, cheat and steal for what they want, he told you something to catch you off-guard so you did not see what was really happening.

When he came back again, there is no doubt that he was about to rip you off. Sometimes there would be a guy in the front seat working on hot-wiring your truck to steal the whole rig or going through your stuff looking for a wallet or other valuables and probably a third person looking out or about to keep you busy so they can rob you.

Don't be gullible again, people don't do that unless they are ripping you off.

That will probably be the only time you catch them so be prepared and try to have a helper or someone watch your stuff when working or go back and check often.

Here is one for you to think about.

A few years ago a painter here had his trailer stolen from his truck it was connected to.

He had the safety chains locked to where you could not get them off.

He had a lock on the BullDog hitch.

He had another type of collar over that so you could not cut the lock off the hitch.

They used a torch and cut the hitch off the trailer, in daytime, at lunch at a busy shopping center.

They must have used a tow truck to pull the trailer without a hitch or maybe put that trailer onto the flatbed or another trailer, I am not sure but when theifs want something bad enough, they will get it.

I love it, your too much! Thats my take exactly ...... choke slam him on the back of his head and then say excuse me what the heck were you looking for?

Give him a pile-driver from the top rail of the trailer onto the street, that will set him straight. hahahahaha

I dont want you guys thinkin i just brushed off the first encounter. I asked him if i could help him and he gave me the BS answer. I then told him that insur. regulations did not allow people near my equipment. I knew he was up to no good. So I waited for him to leave before goin back to work. I walked back over to peek at my rig a few minutes later and thats when i saw him on the trailor. I wasnt gonna be so polite that time. I was keepin an eye out. Didnt want you guys thinkin im an idiot. Weve had to deal with theives like that at my dads auto repair shop. Weve had guys try to steal stuff right in front of us and claim they didnt.

The only expensive thing not bolted down on my trailer is my surface cleaner which I used to just strap down. I got nervous it would walk off so I bought and really nice bicycle cable lock to at least help me sleep a little better.
