Need Your Help Guys

Ok. We are officially stumped.
We have been working on this building since Friday.

The main part of the building has given us nothing but problems. The surface appears to be some sort of concrete with small rocks embedded in it. (I included a close up so you could see).

Underneath the windows and right below these decorative columns (which appear to be aluminum) are black streaks.

So we thought, no big deal. Its mold.
Not so.
These streaks have not come up with anything we have attempted. Thanks for all the suggestions from Mike, Chris, and Jeff.

Here is what we have tried so far:

1. Downstreamed hot 12.5% (even let it sit overnight)- Didnt touch it.
2. Strong concentration of F13/water (let sit overnight)- Didnt touch it.
3. Stong concentration of Simple Green/water- Didnt touch it.
4. Straight Simple Green and scrubbed- Didnt touch it.
5. Potassium Hydroxide/water - Still didnt touch it!

Is there anything else we could try? We dont want to throw in the towel just yet!

Thanks Everyone,

Eric

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say to try some of that Safe Restore that I keep hearing about. I think what you have there looks like an electrostatic type of bonding from the aluminum frames...Before you go crazy though and just for sheets and giggles try some Bleach White that you use to clean whitewall tires with from your local auto parts store. ;)

I have the same situation at a property myself. I have contacted eacochem and have some safe restore on the way just to see if it will come off. That may be your best bet is to call and have them ship you a sample and see what it will do for you

Its metal coming off that Verticle curtain wall. Likely aluminum since its not rusting.

If it was the nomal vinyl black rubber the other stuff would have worked. Bleach would have worked if it was mold.

This is metal, the problem any aluminum cleaner will etch the glass.

I have no over the counter products, thats what it is.

I can tell you a detail product to wash and etch trucks would work.

Somthing similiar to that safe restore would likely get it.

OH, the wrong chemicals being used may have caused that in the past.

I laugh at these guys using acid and caustics on curtain wall. It turns that color shortly after a wash. Its not easily corrected.

I treid calling you, I will tell you personally on the phone. I dont want the recomended cureonline. (liability reasons)

Safe Restore.

I dont think it will work on this one, but thats closer.

Theres no rubber there guys, solvents are not going to touch this.

You fellas in the east have no aluminum buildings. I'll bet thats not a steel verticle curtain....

I just wanted to say THANKS for all of the PM's and phone calls. It means so much that people are willing to help you out in a time of need.
You guys are awesome.
I have a few more things I am going to try tomorrow.
We will see what happens.

Gonna be up late tonight so call if you want.
Jenny and I will be getting some much needed relaxation with the help of some alcoholic beverages!

Eric
