can a person wash a roof, using a delvana 7800 pump? I will be buying a pump soon, and because My own house will be the first and advertising will be to my existing list of customers. So I don't expect to do many roofs or house washes, but I do not wish to stay on a roof or house, all day.

Please advise.

Thank's.

RE:

I don,t know how to fill out Signature, sorry.

I imagine it will take you all day at first and then you will get faster as you progress. Only way to find out is get out there and do it!

Thanks for all the replies,But I would really like to hear from someone who has used a chemical pump or downstreaming with similar gpm.

By the way, I often read various posts on this forum and I commend all of you on your knowledge and get up and go.I have met another member( JohnB)of this forum and I know he does good work.
Again thanks to all of you.

Yes, the Delavan will do just fine.
The bigger diameter your hose is, the better your pump will perform.
My Employees like/use 5/8 Hose, but if I was still cleaning roofs on a regular basis, 3/4 Hose would be on MY Truck.

Not sure if the Delavan 7800 is the 2gpm or the 5gpm pump but whatever the flow is, with the right nozzle you can dramatically cut down on the runoff on the roof which makes your ground guy's job a lot easier and less of a chance of burning the grass and plants.

Get some different orifice size nozzles and see which one gives you a good fan but not flooding and you will be good to go.

With my Bandit (150psi and 6gpm) I was using 1540 nozzles (15 is the degree of fan pattern and the 40 is the size of the orifice) and it was really putting down some chemicals with the 1/2" hose.

I listened to Larry for a while about a smaller nozzle and when Scott D. came down here for a job that I could not get to, I realized that Larry was right so I ordered some smaller size nozzles and tried them out on a roof the other day and the runoff was very minimal compared to what I was doing before.

Life is great now.

Thanks again Larry and Scott D.

Everyone is going to have different systems with application.

My system would be the exact opposite of what is described above.

We want as much flow hitting the roof as possible. You will eventually learn how to handle large flow and have very little run-off.

I'm not suggesting the method above is wrong.

To give you an example:
We have several pumps with different flow.
When I was waiting for my new pump to arrive, we used a yamada 4gpm pump.
My helper thought it was a toy.

I felt the same way.

Whatever way you can clean with speed and precision to make you as much $$ p/hour is the pump/hose for YOU. Then replicate it IMO and focus on obtaining so many roofs to clean you MUST be faster. Then you refine and polish the system and leave it the funk alone except for some new oil.
