Thats insane!! Just think if that was your mother how would that make you feel.(Like beating the s**t out of a cop and and hooking jumper cables to his bobblesack)!!

I heard about that on the radio. That is insane. Big bad cop can't even control an old lady. I'de like to see him try that with Russ. :D

My mother wouldn't act like that. Why couldn't she just comply and back away from the road ? Not saying it's right ... but cops gotta deal with all kinds.

Here is one version of the story, apparently there are other versions, but the video don't lie :(

<!-- end .byline -->AUSTIN, Texas – Cursing and belligerent, the great-grandmother refused to sign her speeding ticket, got out of her truck and dared a deputy to shock her with a Taser.
So he did.
Video released by a Travis County Constable's Office shows 72-year-old Kathryn Winkfein hitting the ground and moaning while the shocks jolted through her body after the May 11 confrontation with Travis County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Bieze.
Winkfein was stopped for driving 60 mph in a 45-mph zone just west of Austin. A dashboard camera in the deputy's car shows the 4-foot-11 Winkfein refusing to sign her speeding ticket, getting out of her white pickup truck and cursing at the deputy constable.
Bieze then pushes her to get her away from traffic.
"You're gonna shove a 72-year-old woman," Winkfein says angrily, standing inches from the deputy.
"If you don't step back, you're going to get Tased," Bieze says.
"Go ahead, Tase me," Winkfein says. "I dare you."
The video shows Bieze using the Taser and Winkfein hitting the ground and moaning in pain.
"Put your hands behind your back or you're going to be Tased again," Bieze yells, and then hits her with another jolt.
Winkfein was eventually charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and fines up to $4,000.
A telephone message left with Constable Sgt. Maj. Gary Griffin of the constable's office was not immediately returned Wednesday. Telephone calls to a number listed for Kathryn Winkfein in Marble Falls, about 50 miles west of Austin, went unanswered.
Griffin has defended Bieze's actions and that Winkfein was belligerent and difficult to handle.
But Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton, whose office does not oversee the constables, issued a statement Wednesday saying:
"I do not personally agree with the actions of the deputy constable as they are shown in the video. When I look at the video I am in awe of what happened."

I am at a loss for words, I just do not know what to say about that. Wow.

She was no threat to him, IMHO.
Us Cleaning Professionals get Low Balled/Shopped, all part of the Job
Cops get verbally abused, part of the Job.
Once Big Brother takes our Guns away, we can all be victims of this kind of crap.

I am at a loss for words, I just do not know what to say about that. Wow.
Don't Mess With Texas
We have OUR share of Police Brutality here in Florida as well!

No excuse to Tase her. Some old folks aren't that way because they choose to be, they just get crazy as the old blood slows down to the brain.

If the cop couldn't physically restrain her he should be shuffling papers in the office. What a wimp.

Why he didn't call for a Female Deputy ?
Here's More "good stuff" to watch :(

She wasn't following directions, she kept trying to get around the cop, and he kept having to push her away from traffic. She was given verbal orders and was non compliant. Though I can understand the sentiment that it was excessive, what would have happened if she had scooted around him and went out into traffic? She could have easily been hit by a car, and sued the county.

A recent case here, 6 years ago, some parents called the Mesa PD because their 15 year old son was drunk, unruly and threatening them and others with a knife. PD came, and the kid brandished the knife at the three officers, and they all three shot him. Obviously it was a consensus that one or all of them was being threatened. Yesterday, the city paid out a claim of $3,000,000 to the family because they were raising such a ruckus. That just really ticks me off. They were saying that it was discrimination and racism that the cops shot their son, except two of the officers were minorities, as well.

This guy is a drug addict, who robbed a drug store.
NOT a good thing to do
But in a Country where a suspect is presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty, this beating is just plain wrong.

Don't know all the facts in that case Scott ?
But here are my thoughts from what you said.
JUST brandishing a knife IMHO is NOT a "reason" to shoot someone.
The Cops have GUNS.
A Knife is no match for a Gun.
The Cops should have simply stepped back, and let the Kid brandish all he wanted.
Unless he acted like he was gonna stab the Cops/Bystanders, or come AT the Cops, they were in no danger.

I grew up on the mean streets of Detroit Scott.
Our Nations Murder Capitol for many years :(
Been packing a piece since I was 13.
Had Plenty of knifes pulled on me.
Once my Gun came out, I never had to shoot anyone.

Only ONE person trying to rob me was foolish enough not to drop the knife and run when I got the drop on him.
I told him " Take one step towards me, or raise the knife, and you are a dead man"
He put his knife away, spit on the ground, and went to seek out an easier victim.

Why 3 Cops HAD to shoot a child is beyond me, but I don't have all the facts Scott.

A child ceases being a child when they brandish a deadly weapon against anyone. I've personally seen the result of a fatal 3" knife attack that happened in seconds. I also saw a guy take another guys eye out with a beer bottle. Contrary to popular belief one bullet almost never stops an assailant, that's just on TV. If someone is within 10 feet of you with a knife there is a very good chance they can inflict deadly wounds before you can stop them with a gun.

I have friend that was attacked by a paint huffer with a large butcher knife. He shot the guy dead center in the stomach with no shirt on. The guys intestines fell out down the front between his legs and he still continued charging him. It took a few more shots to drop him.

My wife teaches school and some of the 15 year olds are over 6' tall and 200lbs. Sad story but the parents are being rewarded for doing a bad job raising a child.

Loosing the child or getting the money????

Take responsibility for your actions. If the family was afraid of him what do they expect the police to do?

I have been told by more than a few combat vets and police that a person with a blade has the ability to move about 10 to 15 ft in the time it takes to pull the trigger. and then also with a flip of the wrist a knife can be sent to a target before a gunman may know it is on the way. Not all people can do this with a knife and it may be a small % that can, but where is the line drawn.... take responsibility.

Sad to say Richard that in my day, I have had to shoot several people in self defense.
It depends on what KIND of Gun, if they stop or not.
The KINDS of Guns/Ammo Cops carry these days will usually stop someone.

This is just my opinion Richaard, based on my personal observations.
Many, but not ALL who carry Guns are little more then Punks.
These are the same people who will fold like a deck of cards in a Jail or Prison Cell, or run from a Bar Room Fight.
Scared, and/or incapable of defending themselves Physically, these "Fear Shooters" arm themselves with Firearms, and shoot at the first sign of "danger"
Unfortunately, many Cops fall into this category.

I used to train Dogs Richard for a German Dog Sport Called Schutschund I competed in.
One Kennel I trained for in Sacremento sold Dogs both to Cops, and the Northern California Growers
There is a very dangerous type of Dog, it is called a "Fear Biter"
It may SEEM to "be protective", but it is not protecting you, it is protecting Itself!

Now, In Schutsund Training, the Dog "always wins"
In other words, a Dog is held on a Leash, while a person called an Agitator teases the Dog until the Dog shows aggression.
As SOON as the Dog shows aggression, the Agitator runs away, and the dog is praised.

The next step in attack training is getting the Dog to bite a sleeve.

The REAL Moment of truth comes in what is called a Schutsund 3 courage test/
<EMBED height=364 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=445 src=http://www.youtube.com/v/tUV1M6pLH9o&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1 allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></EMBED>

The Dog must go 100 yeard off leash, bite the sleeve, but THIS time, the agitator hits the Dog repeatedly with a stick.

It is a RARE Dog that will still hold on to the sleeve when it is being hit.

Most will drop the sleeve, and haul azz

Before ANY reputable trainer will begin Schutsund training, a tempermant test is done to assure the Dog is NOT a Fear Biter.

Fear Biters are unpredictable, and considered dangerous.

Even the Police administer tempermant test of their own on trained Police Dogs to weed out the Fear Biters ;)

Yet, they let some total Punks carry Guns, to "protect US" LOL

Protect US my Azz
They are protecting themselves

The old lady was out of line, but the cop was out of line too. He used excessive force. He could have handled it better.
FYI ~ In Texas you must sign the ticket, it is not an admission of guilt, but you must sign it or go to jail. She wouldnt sign it and said , take me to jail. The cop lost his cool. Bad move on his part. Now the rest of his career he is going to be the cop that tazed the old lady.
