A child ceases being a child when they brandish a deadly weapon against anyone. I've personally seen the result of a fatal 3" knife attack that happened in seconds. I also saw a guy take another guys eye out with a beer bottle. Contrary to popular belief one bullet almost never stops an assailant, that's just on TV. If someone is within 10 feet of you with a knife there is a very good chance they can inflict deadly wounds before you can stop them with a gun.

.

Here is an OLD video on what Cops were packing.
Tell me a 357 or 44 Magnum wont stop somebody ?
Even the old 38 police/military specials are serious weapons.

He used the bare minimum of force.
The taser falls right after verbal warnings ( he repeatedly told her he would tazer falls right there in the use of force)
He had a legal thing to do serve her the ticket, she would not sign it, not saying she was guilty but just saying she would pay or contest it.
Could he of gone hands on with her, yes, but, that runs a high probabitlity to hurt both him and her in a tussle and opening both up to injury from scratches punches or a weapon she might have. If he let her go how do you think she would have driven? The speed limit and legally merge into traffic? Whats he do then chase her? Allow her to hit you and your family over a speeding ticket? No he tazed her and stopped HER stupidity right then and there. Yeah she was a old woman, yeah it stinks she got tazed but who really made that happen? She did.

The thing about a tazer is that it ends a conforntation at a use of force for guys who are 6-7" 400 lbs to in this case a 105 lb old woman. Sucks but he really did nothing wrong.

LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THE GUY! He couldn't control her? C'mon!!! Lets just say that that was his own mother acting that way. Do ya really think he would have shoved her and tazed her? I think the cop has got some serious underlying issues and his mental state needs to be evaluated.

I know it is an old lady, so this may be the "grey area"...

But IMO cops are not tough enough.

Especially if you are a repeat offender wasting my tax money and nothing but wart on societies back.

They have the toughest job, and have to deal with drug addicted career criminals and the gaggle of shit they produce throughout their life.

Darwinism 4TW, castrate the mofo's so we don't have to pay for their offsprings career in crime.

This country has gone soft IMO and needs some "tough love", I work out with a cop from time to time and he says the youth today is gone.

WTF do I get for following the rules?
I'll tell you..
-pay for the stupids mortgage
-taxed to hell and back

watch the crime rate over the next four years...
Don't think I rely on the police/gvt to protect my family....and I don't need guns. .

Stopping is not the question. The Isreal Massad prefer a .22 mag to the back of the head. The point I'm making is not everyone falls down dead. A person can do a lot of damage with a bladed weapon in a very short time. If someone comes towards me in a threatening manner with a blade I'm not gonna wait until I can touch them.

Chris, you've had some bad luck if you've had to shoot several people. I know a lot of cops personally. Some that have worked Gary IN for 30 + years and never shot anyone.

Gary, Indiana LOL
I have been there!
Imagine a Place 10 times the size of Gary, Indiana, and MUCH worse.
That place would be called Detroit :(
My Hometown.

There are several areas in Detroit SO bad, the Cops will not even respond to a call in!
Thus, you are " on your own" if you are unfortunate enough to live there.
You learn to fight real quick as a kid, or face getting your lunch/jacket stolen.
As you become a teenager, you "graduate" from Knives/Baseball Bats/Beer Bottles/etc/etc to guns.
EVEN if you are known to fight when provoked, being known to NOT have a Gun where I am from may get you killed.

And sometimes, EVEN if you do have a Gun, Gangs and those from outside your neighborhood may TRY you
You see Richard, I grew up in the Jeffries Housing Project on Detroit's Lower East Side.
Crime/Drugs were rampant there.
Drug Gangs posted "lookouts" at the entrances of the Housing Project, paid to watch out for the Police where i lived.
Police were shot at so much, they actually QUIT responding to calls!

So, not only was calling the Police to protect you a futile effort, but calling the Police for ANYTHING would quickly get you labeled as a SNITCH.
The old saying "Snitches Get Stitches" was so true, and many known Cop Callers were found dead in Dumpsters, etc.
I did not get my first handgun to "look cool" Richard, i got it to survive.

We moved to Florida in 1971, I took my Gun with me :)

Never really had to pull it here :D
All most of the Rednecks down here wanted to do was fight back then.
Little risk of being killed/shot/stabbed.

I did a lot of street fighting in my day, mostly with Blacks since Detroit is a VERY Black City.
Blacks are TOUGH mo fo's, MUCH tougher then most white people.
It is no "accident" they dominate many sports/boxing.
After fighting with them, most surburban Redneck white kids were a cake walk.
No Gun "needed" :)

Now that I will be 55 in October, I look back at my past and wonder how I did some things I did ?
I was at a Beef O' Bradys here locally last Football Season and somehow made a NY Jets Fan mad ??
I told him Vinny Testaverde sucked, when he was with Tampa ;)
The guy actually pushed me, told me he would "kick my azz"
Know what I did ?
I put my hands up with my palms open and said "I know you will kick my azz, I can't fight"
The friends of mine with me that day were shocked.
It was the ALCOHOL talking, and the frustation that his team, the NY Jets were Losing :(
The very next week, the guy was at Beef O'Bradys again, and came uo to me and said " Thank You for not escalating the situation last week, I was DRUNK"
The Man is a Painting Contractor, and we remain friends to this day.
He has sent me a considerable amount of work!

In a "past life" i know what I would have done to him.
But I have changed.
I have way too much to lose for a moment of "glory" punching out a drunk in a Bar with zillions of witnesses ;)

Besides, i punch in combinations, and THAT is Aggravated Battery in Florida

Yep, a simple everyday Bar Fight can turn into a legal nightmare IF you throw more then one punch!

Best to just walk away

Detroit is a pit, Brightmor ect.....
Why don't you ask Walter Budzyn and Larry Nevers why the Detroit police don't do anything. They did thier jobs and went to jail for it. Prosecuted by the city attourney who then makes it a judges job then gets to hear her own case on appeal.... that sounds fair.
How bout that Mayor Quame Brown? Nice guy.... in jail

Larry, I know what you are saying yes he should have just grabbed her and cuffed her but officers are now trained instead of going hands on with people to just use a tazer. There are no seperated shoulders road rash from wrestleing or other injuries for two people as oppsed to the taser hit and the drop to the ground for one.
Yes it sucks to zap that woman but if it was a 35 year old guy would he be justified? Sure She decided to be a tool bag and it's not like he did not tell her what was going to happen.

She wasn't following directions, she kept trying to get around the cop, and he kept having to push her away from traffic. She was given verbal orders and was non compliant. Though I can understand the sentiment that it was excessive, what would have happened if she had scooted around him and went out into traffic? She could have easily been hit by a car, and sued the county. =QUOTE]

I agree with you Scott. Though the women was clearly not following orders, one should always follow the officers instructions. If one gives an officer a certain level of respect, USUALLY, this would not of happened. I ALWAYS say "yes sir and no sir" when pulled over. Officers are under extreme stress. THIS DOSE NOT EXCUSE THEIR ACTIONS, however, we as citizens should realize that level of stress they are in and act accordingly.

I do believe this could of been handled by the officer in a different way. Sometimes asking for back up in this case would of been a good thing. Especially if the back up was a woman.

I have been told by more than a few combat vets and police that a person with a blade has the ability to move about 10 to 15 ft in the time it takes to pull the trigger.
There used to be a "standard" where an assailant with a knife who was 21 or more feet away from you was supposedly not a lethal threat. I went to some training in Jan. '08 where we watched a "Tueller Drill" in person. The guy with the rubber knife was on top of the guy with the gun just about simultaneously with the sound of the blank cartridge, and the "attacker" was coming from behind the "victim." If it had been real, I think we'd have had one guy with at least one stab wound. I'm not sure there would have been anyone standing (lying) there with a gunshot wound, or leaving a trail of his own blood as he fled the scene with his bloody knife.

I might suggest a Verbal Judo class for the constable, but great-grandma was warned several times.

A recent case here, 6 years ago, some parents called the Mesa PD because their 15 year old son was drunk, unruly and threatening them and others with a knife. PD came, and the kid brandished the knife at the three officers, and they all three shot him. Obviously it was a consensus that one or all of them was being threatened. Yesterday, the city paid out a claim of $3,000,000 to the family because they were raising such a ruckus. That just really ticks me off. They were saying that it was discrimination and racism that the cops shot their son, except two of the officers were minorities, as well.

Scott, in many cases I'm in total agreement with you. This is not one of them. This guy didn't give a flying crap about that womans safety. She was small enough for him to push around so he could pretend, if only briefly, that he had the identifying marks of a male between his legs. The guy was a total azz. He had no problem telling her to get out into the street to go to the back of the truck. That argument is a load of crap.

The lady was going 15 MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!! If the guy had even one ounce of real testosterone in his body he would have just written the citation and let her go whether she signed it or not. The guy is nutless. My address is on my posts.

As a side note in case the wonderful world of the internet finds Mr. Nutless surfing the internet in search if his abusive videos to pleasure himself with ...... Please Mr. Officer, my address is below, please read this and come out here and start some crap with someone your own size you worthless fat POS.

Next, What in the world are you talking about with the other case? Forget about racism what about common sense. Guess what, If I have a gun and the other guy has a knife, what would be the logical thing to do? The most logical thing to do would be to STAY AWAY FROM THE GUY WITH THE KNIFE UNTIL THE SITUATION IS RESOLVED!!

I used to be SP in the Navy for a period of time, there are NO REASONS for an officer to EVER be within reach of a guy with a knife! IF the guy is running towards an innocent victim with a knife that's a different story. But the proper way to deal with someone with a knife is to SECURE the AREA so that there are NO POTENTIAL VICTIMS AROUND, then talk to the guy and WAIT! There is no hurry. Cops don't get paid by the job, they are paid salary and they have all the time in the world. THE ONLY REASON FOR SHOOTING ANYONE WITH A KNIFE IS BECAUSE THE COP WAS STUPID IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR GETTING TOO CLOSE OR THE COP WAS JUST ITCHING TO SHOOT. In EITHER case if a cop shots a guy with a knife the cop is a worthless piece of human garbage who doesn't have enough sense to be in authority over even himself much less the general public!!!!

I have a feeling you've been educated on the criminal justice system through 20 years of watching a highly edited version of COPS designed to show you how GOOD all the local law enforcement is. If you had ever been wrongly accused of something (or rightly accused) and seen how stupid, conniving and lying cops are you'd have a different take on this.

Scott, I respect your opinion, but I don't believe you've been on the other side enough to know what really goes on. I've been on both sides and I have LOTS of relatives (also worthless POS's) that sit around a laugh about abuses that would make you vomit. D*ckless wonders.

The old lady was out of line, but the cop was out of line too. He used excessive force. He could have handled it better.
FYI ~ In Texas you must sign the ticket, it is not an admission of guilt, but you must sign it or go to jail. She wouldnt sign it and said , take me to jail. The cop lost his cool. Bad move on his part. Now the rest of his career he is going to be the cop that tazed the old lady.

Michael, I didn't know that you have to sign the ticket. I wonder how many of the other states that don't have that rule have made it all these years without collapsing into anarchy? It sounds like the legislature that made that rule would rather see escalations like this, rather than let a person leave the scene with a little pride after a traffic ticket. I think I'll go through Kansas next time across the states. ;)

Right On Tony :)
My girlfriend, who I love dearly, gets off her Meds, freaks out because of severe anxiety and PTSD, and goes and gets a restraining order
Then, she calls me to say she is sorry, and assures me it is "just a piece of paper" !
So, we BOTH violate the order, and her daughter. who owes me money for a car and hated me, sees my phone number on her Moms phone.
She calls Cops, they come, see my phone number repaetedly on her phone.
EVEN though my girl does NOT want to press charges, the next thing I know I get charged for 8 "crimes" !!!
In Florida, the second violation of a restraining order qualifies you for Misdemeanor Stalking !!!
The 3rd violation allows the Gestapo to charge you with FELONY Aggravated Stalking !!!
ALL for 8 phone calls she willing accepted/wanted, and participated in !!
My Girlfriend has admitted she and I were BOTH involved in the phone calls, and that she WANTED me to call her]!
She has BEGGED the Gestapo to drop the charges, but they wont!
The State no longer needs her, for they now have the Cops as "witnesses" since the daughter called them on me to get out of paying me for the freaking Car I bought her :(

Of course, the Police are supposed to "protect" women from being harmed, but we all know that is just another excuse to Propagate the Police State we now live under.

It is a MONEY Game Tony, pure and simple

The other day, I was driving to Orlando from Tampa.
I got off an exit on 1-4 to get some cigaretes.
There were 15 State Cops swooping on people for no seatbelt checks

WHAT would happen if a man and his girl were smoking a little weed, and suddenly got pulled for NO reason, other then a seat belt check
They would be busted :(

Personally, I dont smoke weed, dont like the buzz, but I think it shouild be Legalized.
Know Plenty of otherwise law abiding Americans who smoke it :)
So what ?

Bettter Wake UP America, more and MORE of our constitutional guarantee's are being eroded.

Tony,
They had been called by the parents because the parents were afraid. It was the second time that night that they had been called to the same house. There were three cops, and the kid lunged at one of them. The other two cops simultaneously thought the first cop was in peril and shot the kid. They were trying to contain the situation, that is what their job is, the kid escalated it because he would not obey the directions of the cops, and he lunged at one of them.

My philosophy, the minute that you brandish any weapon on any person, cop or not, you should be prepared to lose your life. Cops just have legal authority and responsibility to make sure you do not hurt someone.

A good test is, what would have happened if the kid had stabbed his mother with the cops standing there? I would bet there would have been another lawsuit. If this had been solely a case of making sure that the people had gotten the attention of the government, or to make sure that the cops were properly punished, they would donate every penny of that money to a charitable cause. Somehow, I think a lot of it is going to end up in Mexico and their attorney's pockets.

Sweet Home Alabama!!!!!!!
Really ?

The parents called because they were afraid the KID WAS GOING TO KILL HIMSELF according to the reports. (Of which I personally believe very little for reasons I'll get to later)

The job of the police is to FIRST make sure everyone else is safe. How do you do that? You get them AWAY from the kid. Use a couple of those nimrods standing around with their guns out to KEEP OTHER PEOPLE A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY.

JOB #2 is to keep the kid from hurting himself. (Remember he was a drunk 15 yr old kid. That kid can't VOTE, can't HAVE SEX (legally) but you're trying to tell me that LEGALLY he's responsible (when drunk) enough to know that "IF HE BRANDISHES A WEAPON......HE SHOULD BE READY TO LOSE HIS LIFE"???????

It was the cops duty to PRESERVE that kids life!

They knew the kid had a knife when they got the call. They could have kept their distance. Why don't they have shields like they use in other countries in the trunk of their cruisers for situations like that? Here's why, because if they had anything defensive it would, in their eyes, admit that there is another alternative than just blasting away.

That's the problem. The profession attracts semi-feminine losers that have absolutely zero concern for the "bugs" as I have heard them called (by cops) that live in the poor neighborhoods.

How do we fix this problem? I'll tell you how you don't fix it. You don't fix it by allowing them to cover up for each other everytime they flex their little muscles and stomp all over people.

Here's what happened last month:
Cop supposedly responding to a call (from a teenager) that her father was hitting her. 2 or 3am - 110 mph, no lights no siren. Hits another car and it kills the cop. That morning the news interviewed two eyewitnesses that said the cops had NO LIGHTS AND NO SIRENS. FOR THE NEXT FOUR DAYS THOSE WITNESSES DISAPPEARED and EVERY newscast started with "A police officer responding to a call WITH HIS LIGHTS AND SIRENS ON was killed in the line of duty when a drunk driver pulled out in front of him."
They arrested the "drunk" driver but had to let him go when he had virtually no alcohol in his system HE EVEN TRIED TO GET TO POS COP OUT OF THE BURNING CAR AFTER THE COP ALMOST MURDERED HIM BUT HE WAS BUTCHERED IN THE PRESS AS THE GUY WHO PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF A POOR COP AND KILLED HIM.

They had his funeral on TV. The Dumbazz idiot cop that was following behind him cried at the funeral and told how the accident keeps playing over and over in his head. IF HE REMEMBERED IT SO WELL THEN WHY DID HE DENY THAT THE DEAD COP (AND HE) HAD THEIR LIGHTS AND SIRENS OFF????? WHY DID IT TAKE OVER A WEEK AND A SLEW OF LAWYERS GOING TO FILE SUIT BEFORE THEY ADMITTED THAT THE MORON COMMITTED SUICIDE BY GOING 110 MPH IN A 35 ZONE WITH NO LIGHTS AND SIRENS FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER WOULD BE MURDERER WHO IS STILL ROAMING OUR STREETS ready to murder someone else!!!!!!

There is a brotherhood of scumbags patrolling this country. If I shoved a 72 year old woman like that I'd be in jail. AND FOR WHAT? BECAUSE SHE WOULDN'T SIGN A TICKET!!!!!!!!!! FOR GOING 15 MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!!!! THE POLICE HERE WON'T EVEN ISSUE A TICKED FOR 15 MILES OVER UNLESS IT'S IN A SCHOOL ZONE but this d*ckless pr*ck thought that 15 mph was important enough to tase an old lady and push her around. He must have been fantasizing about what it would be like if his mother hadn't controlled his entire life. Get is dumb azz off the streets of our country and put him behind a fast food counter where he belongs!

One more thing about the money. I only wish it all came out of the police budget so that they would learn that keeping morons like these on the payroll is not acceptable. This is never going to change until they are weeded out and the pay is cut so low that only people who REALLY care about serving are left on the force.

I was a private investigator for a large firm investigating insurance fraud in the 80's. Our LARGEST customer by far was the insurance carrier for the S*nta Cl*ra Sheriff's department. You try to follow scumbag lying cops around and watch them play basketball for 3 hrs right after they went to a doctor's appt limping and acting like they were going to die. It's hard to tail anyone, but try tailing cops for days and days. I personally videotaped at least 14 of them committing all out fraud. That was just me! We had 8 investigators in the field!

WHEN THERE IS NO INTEGRITY IN LAW ENFORCEMENT there is no INTEGRITY IN THE LAW.

Sue them if you can. Take all their money. Force them to use common sense when PROTECTING the public.

I think I'll sit back now because I've put in a lot more than two cents. More like a whole dollar.

No smileys in these posts. We need a change of authority here.
