High Quality Trailer Tires

I buy tires on the rim at Northern when they go on sale for $89 or $99. Its a little more than I was paying for tire + mounting, but I can do it myself - rather than sitting and wasting time at a tire shop.

I find that the front axle tires wear faster than the rears, so I also rotate front to back. With rotation, I get about 1 year out of set of 4. I also carry a repair kit, tire sealant and a 12v air compressor/battery jumper/12v plug/inverter combo.

I rotate them Also, i do the same with dually's

I have been running Carlisle 10 ply for years, great tires.

Along the same line I have to get 19.5 tires on my 450. I have been through two sets of Michelins but they are loud as heck on the road and start to lose grip about 1/2 way through their life. Last time I bought a full set I went with some chinese "Doublecoin" for half the price. They were quiet and had good grip, but they wore out real fast and cracked on the sides.

After those I got a set of Hercules tires S-205's http://www.herculestire.com/catalogs/herculesCommercialCatalog.pdf

The hercules have been great and cost less than $1000 for a set of six.

I found Carlisle Radial Trail ST205/75R15 /D at https://www.vulcantire.com for $76.00 each, shipped to AZ for $11.00.

Thinking about ordering 4. I got a nail in the sidewall of 1 of my brand new tires on my new trailer, first weekend out. Discount Tire won't patch a sidewall. Guess I could go to one of those Jose tires places and get it patched and keep it for emergencies.

Just receive the 4 tires I ordered back in July this week. Good thing I haven't had a flat since June. Now I have 4 of the best tires available in stock.

Checked with Discount the other day, was told they were out of stock of the Carlisle Radial Trail ST205/75R15 /D, but could have them in about a week. Price ??? $126.00 each, out the door. The wait was well worth it.

I use Commercial T/A's. They last three to four times as long for me, and are less prone to punctures. They aren't that much more expensive, either. BTW, I did have to upgrade to 16 in. rims on my trailers to use them. In fact, I went to them about 3 years ago, and have only had one flat, and that was because my former employee taco'd a rim, hitting a curb texting while driving.
I switched to the same type tire on Scotts advice, by far the best move I ever made, I run the 235/86/R16 10ply radials, they are not "trailer" type tires, they are truck tires just like we run on 3/4 and 1 tons, AWESOME!

Russ, what is the weight capacity of those tires? Just curious.

Thanks.

I bought 4 8ply Carlisle 225/75/15s for $85 each last week from the Chevrolet dealership here.

Might be an idea for another place to check.

I have been using Carlisle Tires for many years now, they hold up well under all the weight.

I am looking for 4 new tires and rims for a 10,000 lb trailer. I saw it some where that it wasn't much more for the $$ both any ideas were to get them?

The last set I bought were class C, 10 ply Goodyear Marathon's $165/piece. Holding out ok.
I (nor anyone else I know for that matter) have never had any luck with trailer tires. Can't wait to get rid of it.
