this is my e-mail please E me ...................>

smwash@pennswoods.net

thanks

Careful "only 200 gallons" will weigh 1680 pounds or 84% of 1 ton. Unless you have at least a 1 ton chassis you are going to be in for some real problems and a voided warranty.

Typically the tank will weigh 100# and even a small skid will have a full up wet weight of 600#.

Will your truck hold (both comfortably and legally) 2380#? This is all moot if you are planning on towing the tank on a trailer.

Hope this helps? Cheers.

yes my "BOW-TIE" is a one ton and I looked @ smaller skids that weigh around 385.... to 500 lbs.. and h20 being 8.33 pounds per gallon will be a total weight of

h2o= 1666 lbs
tank = 75 lbs
washer= 500

total (give or take) = 2241
thats not counting soap.reels wands etc..
thats why im looking into a smaller skid..
also i look at one with only 385 lbs (skid)
9 hp honda hot h20.
and no I dont want a trailer >>>> too many Pa. hils

so yes you are right I better watch my weight........

The smallest 'skid' we make is an 11HP Honda, 12V, direct drive which we ship at a weight of 475# including the wooden skid.

PURE water weighs 10# per Imperial gallon or 1 kg. per litre or 8.33# per US gallon.

Therefore 200 US gallons should weigh 1669# plus impurities bringing the total most likely to 1680#. Add at least 75# (100# to be safe) for the tank and fittings plus a wet weight (oil ~1 litre, fuel ~2 US gallons and water in the coil ~6 litres) close to the shipping weight.

Your total is ~2255# which would exceed the GVWR of your 1 ton truck. The rating is the ability of the weakest link in the drivetrain to withstand the weight on the vehicle's back including the weight of the vehicle of ~3500# (on the light side for a 1 ton); therefore you need at least a 2 ton rated Bowtie like a 3500HD or so.

Hope this helps further? Cheers.

I dont doubt your calculations .. however never underestimate the power of a bowtie.lol................>>

I had a half ton with a 325 gal tank and a skid on it even though I know legaly I was a lil over<< it hauled it very well. I did add some extra springs . it was a great set-up ........... but........... the running gears was crap....... took forever to climb a hill ..........

what is your price on your skid that you mentioned?

it dont have to be elec. start.
just as long as it hot h20............

On the GVWR you also have to consider the weight of the people in the vehicle and the gas in the gas tank. So lets say if the person driving the vehicle weighs 200lbs and he has 20 gal.gas tank in his truck that is full(Gas weight around water weight 8.33 lb/gal)=167lbs. Thats another 367lbs(200+167) that must be included in the GVWR.

That being said you now take the 1 ton truck=2000lbs-367lbs=1633lbs of equipment that can be added to it. Anything more then that you are OVER the GVWR.

GVWR is the total weight of truck(With gas tank being EMPTY) + everything thats added to the truck(people,Gas,equipment etc.)

Here's an example of my Ford E-150 Extended Cargo Van:
GVWR=6200lbs
Van(Gas tank empty)=3950lbs
6200-3950=2250lbs of total extra weight allowed which is not much.

My Dually Dodge Diesel 3500 pickup truck is another story.:D

check out delc*'s BBS there is one pissed off X-hydro tec dealer on that site because the dist. manager sold direct to his customers.

I have read these posts with interest and curosity. I used to have a '94 Ford Ranger , 4cyl, 5 spd. If I remember correctly I believe the truck weighed 5400/5500 loaded. all I did was call the state and have the registration changed. For an additonal registration fee every year they upped the GVWR of the truck.
Maybe its just NM but...
Does the state or the manufacturer determine the GVWR of the vehicle?

Harlyn

PS Yes I beefed up the tires and put air shocks (yuck) on.

Harlyn, I am sure they just changed your tags to P1 (9,000 lb.) commercial tags. The manufacture determines the GVWR of the vehicle. The state will require you to have commercial tags if you have signs or lettering on your truck. If the DOT stops you they will tell you real quick if you are in violation.
