Solid fuel resources ?

Does somebody have solid fuel resources that they can recommend or share ?

We have a fair number of solid fuel clients and in our market we find our clients using; > grease baffle filters without spark arrestors, > aluminum upblast fans, > cleaning cycles of (60) days contrary to the NFPA96 specified monthly cleaning.

We have had success compelling our customers to upgrade to spark arrestor filters and we have offered information on a steel upblast fans intended for solid fuel applications.

Any suggestions ?

I just completed a comprehensive mailing . The shortest I could make the cover letter was 1 1/2 pages to cover what I thought was necessary.

I made a Kitchen Staff Checklist - Woodburning System(s) Maintenance suggesting Daily cleaning of hoods, spark arrestors, filters etc, Weekly kitchen staff inspection, and Monthly inspection by us with a view toward cleaning. Flame Gard, Woodstone, and NFPA excerpts included.

The biggest problem we are having is their refusal to have the systems cleaned at a frequency greater than (60) days resulting in wheel replacement on the aluminum upblast fans from accumulations that cannot be removed. I wish NFPA96 would require steel construction on fans, the surface tension on aluminum with solid fuel it too high to break without damage to the aluminum.
