Walmart contracts

I heard through the grapevine that the regional office is going to start hiring contractors for service versus the store managers hiring. Have any of you heard anything similar to this?

I Dont believe it....anything is possible.

I bid on three locations and they all told me to contact home office for approval. Not only that a gm for a store that I currently service informed me of an email he had received from home office regarding the changes.

Wallmart

they just did that here too, we had them and the have now reversed the decision and referred us to regional management (not district or store)

Russ.
Hi.Paul here, regarding wallmart believe anything they are checking their supplyers to see wat carbon foot print they leave, they are looking to be the next leader in going green,no matter wat we are offering.
So any one be sure not to use any bleach or chlorine and make sure to recover all you run off

When did Bleach start not being biodegradable to salt water?

Sounds like a chem supplier statement.

Edit... I saw your other post... It IS a statement only told by a supplier of "other" chems.

I have yet to find any chem that can do what bleach does in the time it does it. Also with the low pressure required.

Sorry for going off topic, but I saw the Anti-bleach statement and needed to comment. We fight this mis-conception daily bidding jobs against guys that were fed this crap by someone trying to sell a more profitable chem. It affects ALL of our businesses. Not one of the anti-bleach products we have ever tried has saved us time or money. Some did not even work at all, some worked a little but none does what bleach does. 90% of the PROFESSIONALS on this and and other BBS's use bleach because it is time tested and proven to save us labor and all the associated costs. Cleaning a roof in a fourth the time, means 1/4th of the workers comp premium that is paid for being on a roof longer. Washing a house in 45 minutes to an hour means more houses in a day.

Bleach only gets a bad rap from NON_PROFESSIONALS that don't apply proper procedures. So they would also give the ant-bleach products a bad rap too. Has nothing to do with the bleach, but rather the way in which it was handled. Day in and day out, bleach is safely used by housewifes to do the laundry. However, those house wives will tell you that they don't let thier 15 year old son do the laundry. Because he doesn't know how, not because bleach is BAD.

My bleach, used in the manner that we use it, is just as "Green" as the other chems out there.

I have herd from a local store manager they are currently in talks with a national service company that will be handling

landscaping
dry-well service
retention ponds
pressure cleaning
sweeping
and everything else to do with outside.

Same here.... I even know of contractors that have placed thier bids with these service providers.

Is this a service provider we know or a new mom & pop working out of the basement Taking Work and Slashing prices or someone ?

Funny thing, I just had a provider request they add me as one of their vendors for pressure washing. They asked if I had recovery and what types of insurance I carry.

Don't drink the koolaid man! Chris got a letter and a call from one with a Las Vegas address. We drove to their office to check out the legitimacy fist before getting back with them.

It's a PostNet box on West Sahara and it was empty. PostNet guy said Empty usually means the mail is immediately forwarded and no one ever comes to pick it up. It's just a true mail drop.

This is scumbag business practice. It is absolutely impossible to monitor the quality of work without some type of human inspection and/or supervision. Pictures won't cut it. What legitimate business works in this manner? This is the kind of stuff you later find on the evening news. How many times have you seen the reporter walk to a building and say "we tried to contact them and came to their office, but all we found was this post office box." ?

It might be at least a little justifiable for the Service company to take the large percentages they take if they actually sent a man on the ground for quality control and contractor relations. These guys are just straight out pimping and do nothing to advance our industry.

There's only one industry where pimps are providing a good service for workers. That's Labor Ready and Labor Max and businesses like that. They take guys who don't want to work a regular job and match them with guys like me who don't need employees all the time.

Is that what we want in this industry? A Pressure Max? or Pressure Ready for all the guys sitting on the couch waiting on the phone to ring so they can go check and see if the gas has gelled in the PW from non-use before they go out?

That's what networking is for. I get referrals all the time on this board. That's because people on here know that Chris and I give a crap about our work and will do a good job no matter what it takes. How can you know something like that if you're randomly calling up PW companies or just putting ads out on craigslist?

And please don't say, "this is the way the industry is going". Because it is going this way simply because no one is exposing and/or standing up against it. We need to be dropping stencils all over the place, over and over and over and over again.

Ok, done ranting. :winknudge:

Great post Tony. I am in no way trying to whore myself out, I figured it was kind of funny considering the timing of their call. They may or may not be negotiating a contract with them.

Currently when you sign up to become a vendor with them you agree that you cannot sub out any of your work. If walmart does hire a blanket company that will only contradict their current service agreements.

If they are paying fair prices for the work, that's not whoring. There are some out there who are fair to the contractor AND keep up with relations. This might be one of them. I' don't know. You don't seem like the whoring type Jorge. I'm sure you won't get mixed up with a pimp company. Hey.....that's a good name for a NSC.....Pimpco. I'll see if the URL is available

+10 I hope everyone reads what you typed Tony, This is serious.

All through the past 30 years or so that I remember are tons of scams doing the mail drop, mail forwarding and other things that there is no physical address, only a p.o. box where the mail is forwarded to and probably to another box that is setup to forward again, hard to keep track of the paper trail, they do that for a reason (illegal, unscrupulous or otherwise) but it is for a reason, they don't want to be found in person.

Nobody shoud do business with a company like that ever, it looks like another scam!

Too bad people do not open their eyes to this kind of thing until it is too late, on the news about people getting ripped off and how they can't find the company.

Think about it, what legitimate company does not have a physical address where the mail is sent to and info/bills/product is sent to?

What happens if you do work for them and you don't get paid and after a while you send out more letters and make more calls, you get someone or the police or a gov't organization involved and they come back with "All we found was a P.O.Box, sorry."

Very bad business practice, more like a ripoff and scam.

Great investigative work Tony!

Hope others open their eyes before it is too late.
