Funny thing, I just had a provider request they add me as one of their vendors for pressure washing. They asked if I had recovery and what types of insurance I carry.
Don't drink the koolaid man! Chris got a letter and a call from one with a Las Vegas address. We drove to their office to check out the legitimacy fist before getting back with them.
It's a PostNet box on West Sahara and it was empty. PostNet guy said Empty usually means the mail is immediately forwarded and no one ever comes to pick it up. It's just a true mail drop.
This is scumbag business practice. It is absolutely impossible to monitor the quality of work without some type of human inspection and/or supervision. Pictures won't cut it. What legitimate business works in this manner? This is the kind of stuff you later find on the evening news. How many times have you seen the reporter walk to a building and say "we tried to contact them and came to their office, but all we found was this post office box." ?
It might be at least a little justifiable for the Service company to take the large percentages they take if they actually sent a man on the ground for quality control and contractor relations. These guys are just straight out pimping and do nothing to advance our industry.
There's only one industry where pimps are providing a good service for workers. That's Labor Ready and Labor Max and businesses like that. They take guys who don't want to work a regular job and match them with guys like me who don't need employees all the time.
Is that what we want in this industry? A Pressure Max? or Pressure Ready for all the guys sitting on the couch waiting on the phone to ring so they can go check and see if the gas has gelled in the PW from non-use before they go out?
That's what networking is for. I get referrals all the time on this board. That's because people on here know that Chris and I give a crap about our work and will do a good job no matter what it takes. How can you know something like that if you're randomly calling up PW companies or just putting ads out on craigslist?
And please don't say, "this is the way the industry is going". Because it is going this way simply because no one is exposing and/or standing up against it. We need to be dropping stencils all over the place, over and over and over and over again.
Ok, done ranting. :winknudge:
