How many people like this Idea?

Should we help one another recieve the RFP from state to state. Goverment to private enterprize.

This has been discussed alot if the pressure washing industry org should offer a service or not.

What we are discussing is how PWI could provide leads without hurting its members.

LETS talk

I like the Idea. I feel there is plenty of work to go around. Plus there are many diferent specialties that I don't think we will hurt anyone. I subscribe to one service and there must be 10 to 15 rfp's for hood cleaning on Air Force bases all over Texas so I don't think it would hurt anyone to post them all. They are spread out over a large enough area that it won't over lap any two contractors.

Im all for it as long as its fair and no ones getting cherry picked.

I think that sharing them would be a good idea but only to contractors that can handle the work so that way it would keep the guys that cannot handle the work from lowballing and hacking the work.

If you can handle it then that is ok but if you cannot, do not have the equipment and manpower or knowledge then leave it to the companies out there that can, it takes time to learn this stuff, you don't want to jump into something huge and not be able to handle it and make yourself look bad.

There are a lot things out there that I hear about that honestly I could not handle being a smaller company but I am growing and soon I will be able to handle larger jobs and my company will grow, I will not jump into something out there that will make me look bad and hurt my reputation.

You guys let me know if I'm off base on this.

It's obvious that guys who are willing to get on a public board and ask for help and knowledge are going to be better equipped to do most work than a guy who just stays to himself.

The guy who stays to himself has no network to lean on and can only improve his work by trial and error. Sure, he might develop a good technique and learn to do good work in time, but BBS guys have the advantage of learning from others' mistakes.

I'm all for putting out RFP's but what do we do when one of our own already has the account?
Do we put out the RFP on the public board then?
What if the customer is very satisfied with the work performed, but by law has to put out an RFP?
Do we put it out there to open up more opportunities for lurkers to take a chance on lowballing it?
What if the customer is dissatisfied? Do we inform our bbs brother that the customer is dissatisfied then put the RFP out on the board?

PWI is a privately owned entity and we have a lot of leeway in how to deal with RFP's.

What are you guys thoughts on this?

Cherry picking will happen without regulation and I do not think regulation is something PWI wants to put resources into. We do not need another czar do we?

This one builder had several paint contractors working for him. He was that big. He would build a house slab to finish in 28 days. With that said there were a few types of homes he built that all paid the same. Hip/brick veneer homes were king and whoever tagged it go to bag it. We used to somedays go and caulk 3-4 out at the end of a day to get them on our books for the next day. Other contractors said we were the contractors pet. We said of coarse because we have the best finished project.

So in short. Call it what you want, but if a lead is on the site and someone happens to pick up a couple in a row due to the fact they have a larger crew or are able to get to it first. I do not believe there should be a penalty. Just create a sub topic where we can do this to the contractor:

:hang3: This is a disclaimer to note that this was a joke from the author and in no way constitutes that someone become a vigilante and try this.

Sad day when we have to place a disclaimer by what we say. :speechless:

This is going to open a whole can of worms. Like Tony said, there are just as many lurkers who come to this site as there are registered users. So the RFP's will have to be listed in a section only available to registered members who have the proper equipment & Knowlege to get the job done.

He must be cleaning one of Guido's Dozer's........

nope i talked to the guy this morning early all they are wanting is a company to be on call they only will give out a min of 2000 sqft at a time they are not looking for some one to clean the whole college it is as needed and and pre bid confrence is required also reclaiming nope not cleaning heavy equipment cleaning shopping centers all this week

Tony it is going out for bid anyway....

Hey I can lie like anyone and then show up with a HD special.
I like the idea of a state organized or regionalized area. Is there a way to further lock down these areas?
We could prove insurance and pictures of trucks and equipment that HAVE signs on them ....but who will be the admin of this area??

Self-regulate within the forum - we do it rather well already, right?

I wouldnt mind paying dues to support some kind of referral process. At least the looky loos will have to make some kind of bigger commitment than just getting registered.

Look, the whole RFP thing is really getting STUPID!!!!

Anyone can can get these RFP's, they are State & City RFP's, just go to your State or City website, find the Vendor page and sign up. They will direct the RFP's to your email. Its just that simple.

As for me, I've seen what their looking for, lowest price and piss poor quality.

No Thanks Count Me Out!!! I find plenty of work on my own!!!
