Pressure washing RFp's Request for Proposals -Lets Talk

Look, the whole RFP thing is really getting STUPID!!!!

Anyone can can get these RFP's, they are State & City RFP's, just go to your State or City website, find the Vendor page and sign up. They will direct the RFP's to your email. Its just that simple.

As for me, I've seen what their looking for, lowest price and piss poor quality.

No Thanks Count Me Out!!! I find plenty of work on my own!!!

Honestly Guy, your right. It wasnt always that way with the city contracts, but nowadays it's low man wins.

I agree with Guy and Nick.

I bailed on the Palm Beach RFP's. Always low bid and sh*t work, I even had the guy call me from the county and tell me that he doesn't know how the winning bidders are making money bidding like they do.

Hi Paul here the so called undergaduate.
Not sure what all the fuss is about, you stick together as a team what's the worst that can happen?
Just to let you all know i'm originally from holland so excuse the spelling mistakes,
Lets just draw the line here,if we can not work together what do we have?
Like i said in preveous comments charge one price and give the customer a discound so they feel like they are getting something for free.
Other than that charge what ever you like but let everyone else know what it is your doing, and if you can;t get to the job give someone else the job, hopefully they will do the same for you.
No matter what there is enough for every one.
Like i said add some income add some services.
Thank you.

Since the majority of my accounts are government contracts, I have to disagree that they are just looking for poor quality and low prices. In fact, if you know which contracts to bid on, I have seen the cities take a contract that is nearly 3 times as much money, to get the service they thought they were paying for. (they didn't) With a good reputation, a city will do many things that will help you to win bids. I am not saying that they are custom written, but, they will scope it in such a way that you have a leg up.

As for posting RFP's, obviously, I am not totally for it, because that is one of my specialty areas. I worry about some nitwit coming in and ruining a relationship that I have developped with a contract administrator by lowering the expectations, or conversely, claiming I am a hack, and protesting the bid, because I have figured out the secrets to a contract that allows me to make a lower bid.

You guys are right about the low bid stuff.

I'm starting to agree. RFP's are pretty easy to get. I'm on the list for most of the city, state, and local utilities anyway. I just got the gas company for three years I did that on my own. (and I was the lowest bidder, but that was only because I have the fastest and most efficient method of operation)

Why give RFP's to guys who don't even have the gumption to search them out?

I'm going back and forth on this. :banghead:

Shoot, you don't even have to search too hard.

No Scott, their not looking for poor Quality and low prices, their looking for low prices and getting poor quality.

I do work for a county maintenance department, they call me because they know I do quality work and stand behind everything we do, are my prices higher, Yes, do they get quality work for the price, Yes!

Look, everybody knows that there is also a clause in these bids that say " We have the right not to accept the lowest bid"

Guess what that means???? Someone has a in-road to the guy that says YES.

It Ain't Who You Know, It's WHO YOU KNOW!!!!!

Guys are drooling over RFP's like there a pot of gold, sorry their not!!!

I really wish the whole subject would go away!!!

Your right about alot of this, the who you know doesnt happen much in phx. I have turned down contracts years ago because i didnt want to be shut out of open PO..yeah stupid the city locked out contractors that had regular contracts.

Exactly!!!!!!!! They've been around forever, the Internet just makes it easier to find.

But when RFP's were brought up a few months ago, its like no one had ever heard of them, and everybody wanted them.

Some money can be found in the RFP companies that you pay for.

The trick is to make yourself the guy they know. They may not be a pot of gold, but, I am making a living off of them.

And you're right Scott, but now by opening them up to everyone (Pro's & Hacks) how much of a living will you be making next year or the year after that???

You know the in's and outs of RFP's in your area Scott, you know how to properly fill out the forms bid the jobs and make money doing it, and that works in your market. But what works in your market, may not work in other markets.

This is the problem I have with the RFP frenzy, the guys that have just heard about them think their going to put in a bid and get the job. They have spent hours filling out the different forms, many hours measuring and bidding the job, just to be outbid by a Hack Company or lose the bid to a Professional Company that has connections.

All the hours wasted on chasing that RFP, could have been used to go out and meet PM's, DM's and work on other ways of building their Biz and making money.

I have seen first hand and have bid some Gov. and State RFP's, been there done that!

You guys (Not You Scott) can talk about and argue about RFP's All You Want, I'll Be At The Bank!!!

How about each state has a forum, if your approved by requirements you have access? If your not qualified you dont?

How about that?

That sounds interesting :shocked2:

I need help with the banner.................dang-it :haha:

I am personally against posting them all on here. Who knows who is lurking here to see what gets posted and never contributes at all!! Leave the RFP's out to the guys who put in the work and time to find them. Some are profitable, some are not. The gov't work seems to be a game anyway. Some of it is who you know, a guy here did 5 parking garages for over a million square feet and had to haul off the waste water. He hauled off 4780 gallons, for cleaning over a million sq ft. Nobody questioned that, except me and I was blown off.

Leave the RFP's closed for now.

How about if you have to be approved and share as criteria?

I think it would be a good idea. Not everyone knows where to look for the jobs. Post it, take a look, if you want to bid then go for it. If you don't then don't look at it.

Ron called me the just the other day saying the UAMCC shouldn't be putting out RFP's I couldn't figure out why:confused:, but he said maybe he will put out RFP's on PWI, I said Great. Contractors are busy and don't always have the time to look for them or don't know where to find them. Glad Ron and PWI is following the UAMCC's lead on this and helping its members and making their lives and businesses a little easier.

GO PWI :clapping::clapping::clapping:
