Dead Modified Delavan Request

I will say that I do 90% of my business with Bob, so maybe I am biased, maybe not. I have done business with Sunbrite and Russ Johnson on some other items, both great vendors as well. When the day comes I will have absolutly no problems doing business with Paul as well. I will jump on the oppurtunity to do business with these companies because of the impression I have gotten from them over these great bulletin boards and for the great things they have done for the industry. I have not had the oppurunity to meet Lori or deal with her company like many of the Florida companies have, so maybe that is why I feel like some of the others. The impression that I get isn't a good one, with the repeated attacks against Bob, I have never seen one of the other vendors attack one another, not saying it hasn't happened, just saying I haven't seen it. The thing that I find the craziest is the repeated comments that have been made to imply that Bob has been gouching us with his pricing and the calls to get the prices lower. ISN'T this the exact same practice that we all DONT WANT for our own industry. It just seems backwards to me to try and force our vendors to cut their margins while at the same time we push to keep ours up. Whats next, is one of Pauls or Sunbrites items priced higher than they would sell it for? So then is it open game? Like I said I am doing my best not to be biased on this I am just stating the way it appears to me.

I agree. Paul and Bob will attest to the fact that I have told both of them, "I don't care what things cost, I want them". I have told Bob on numerous occasions he needs to go up on prices. I pay double for some products from my local vendor because I want to support him. I don't have a problem with price. I spend 10's of thousands of dollars a year with vendors. It is a write off and I get what I want to make money. However, regardless of how great something is or how great the price, I won't spend my money with someone I don't trust or respect. Nothing directed at Lori or anyone else with that comment. Just in general. I spent more on my last F250 than I needed to but I didn't like the commercials of the cheapest dealership. I got quirks, I admit it. But they are my quirks and I like them.

I'll repost this at the "modify-at-will" forum. Let's see if I can rephrase. I cannot and will not be a party to deceiving a guy that has been a pioneer in this industry, a friend to many and an honest, ethical business man to everyone. There is a right way and a wrong way to get customers. All I'm asking you is to think about that.

Who was it that said this Ken, I mean who are you quoting?

Last week Lori advertised a price for the pumps and got hacked in the knees because her comapny isn't modifying them like Pressure Tek.You wanted to know if Lori would give the same warranty without the mods as Bob does with them. How can she do that if they aren't doing the same mods to the dang pump.Bob warranties the pumps you buy because he makes the mods, not Delevan. The damned pumps aren't even designed for what we use them for.
Lori asked for a trashed pump so they to could offer similar mods and warranty I'm assuming to give you guys what you wanted.
As Russ S said earllier Bob himself has stated online where the fault was with the delevan pumps. What Bob does to fix the issue I don't know and don't care. The info is out there for anyone who wants to do some research.Lori simply asked for a pump vs. hiding the fact they would like to reverse engineer so they to can offer a bigger, better pump also.I don't think publicly annoucing what your intentions are is a shady business practice.
The FL guys seem to have nothing but good things to say about Lori so they must be doing something right. We all price shop distributors to some degree I base my purchases on who has the best service after the sale.Who will answer questions without a sales pitch, give me solutions to a problem and who will replace crap parts when they last no more than a few hours after being put to use.
I buy from Russ J,Bob,Water Cannon and a local guy when I absolutely have to.I'm sure at some point I may give Lori and Rex some business.
Trust me if it hadn't been for Russ J last week and the better part of today answering his phone or calling me back quickly I would still be fighting with a pump rebuild and throwing tools around the yard.

I do the same with local vendors, kory knows who I am talking about. I will go there and do buisness with them because they always take care of me when I roll in. They know that I cant wait a few days to pick up my rig. Are they more exspensive ,yes but service is worth the price.

I just met Lori only a few weeks ago, and they cant do enough for you when you get there, and her dad Rex is a book of knowlege when it comes to P/W equipment and repair.

I think this has gotten blown way out of proportion, no one here said that any distributor was better than any other. We have done buisness with Bob as well and I think that they are all helpfull and honest distributors.

Most of us spend 10's of thousands of dollars each year on equipment & Service and there is plenty to go around, I am happy to know that we have so many great distributors to work with.

+10 ...

"throwing tools around the yard."

You need to throw something that can get rid of frustration and anger. I like throwing axes, takes concentration - which takes my mind off frustration and I can get back to work. I thought I was getting decent at it till a guy challanged me to a tournament that was basically horizontal throws. Thrashed me good.

Thats good advice coming from the self proclaimed "H.N.I.C." by your own admission. :sarcastic:

Thats it...I'm just going back to buying FlowJets. Hahaha! :sarcastic: (Of course I'll get it fom Lori.)

Huh?
I tell all my guys I am the HNIC. Its a running joke. This isn't Alabama.. we're not hardcore racists up here. ..anyway.. moving on..

Scott you tried to make a convincing argument with one key point left out. Figure out the mods on your own. What if you and I spoke on the phone, you gave me a trade secret it had taken you thought and time to develop and the next day you saw your idea being sold on the internet by me? It might not have been anything earth shattering and maybe I would have figured it out. But wouldn't you be a little burned about it?

Another point you may be missing is that this is still a circumvent around the originator of both the idea and the execution. What do you think the reply would be if Lori called Bob and asked him to send her the plans for the modification? Would you do that in his shoes? Would he? I don't know. I'm gonna guess NO in both scenarios. So coming here and asking for the pump from one of his customers is shady. It is what it is.. just my opinion.

Lori, I apologize for turning what is most likely a good intention to give customer service on your part. It may not have turned out the way you had hoped. We all learn from our mistakes. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Hey Larry, just got my chem. hose from Lori. Great price, also did me a huge favor for a demo, fill you in later.
Got the hose in one day. Now thats sweet. I love getting those chirstmas gifts at the door.

I will be sending her more of my business.
Thank you Lori

I would like to say some positive words here. I have purchased equipment and chemicals from PressureTek, WaterCannon and Pressurewasherproducts (Lori).
All these people are great to do business with. Everyone of these guys have answered my questions and shipped my orders promptly.
Lori is a great vendor and I am happy to live and work not far from her.
Last week I placed an order just a day before I scheduled a couple of jobs during the weekend. I needed the stuff to be delivered very quickly. Lori's father - Mr. Rex made sure, I was going to get my stuff when I wanted. I didn't care about the time because I work during the nights. After long day exhausting driving across the entire state of Florida, Rex delivered my chemicals at 2:30am just to satisfy my urgent needs. When I met this man, I could see how devoted to his business and customers he was.
I wish to all of us more business and more happy customers, so as all these great vendors. At the end of the day, that is all what matters :).

again ...... Bob must not be too concerned since he has not replied?

I have had the pleasure of not only being his customer but also his friend and this stuff I am sure drives him nuts! He will tell you himself, he does not worry about who does what, he sells himself and his business and does not worry about the rest. You guys are just making it look like you are scared to death of someone taking his business, Bob has great customer retention and does a good job of doing what he does, let Lori and Rex do what they are going to do and let Bob and whoever else do what they are going to do.

Get it all out Bobetts I am moving the thread in the morning.

Bob, Rex and Lori ---- I am sorry all this took place here.

I'm not making any arguements Kenny.I stated my view point plain and simple and I have had an idea taken and used because I wasn't in a position to execute it.The guy who did went out of business not saying that my idea was the downfall because it wasn't,but just the same he knew I knew he took the idea to prodcution and didn't even offer me one to R&D.

Thank you to all those new (and old) friends that posted. We sincerely appreciate all of you.

Be safe and successful! Lori
