Lost bid

Good bid, I would have been right there with ya.

Id do it free with a $600 house wash

I would have probably been higher. Hard to tell without actually standing on it. It would be interesting to see what price got the work. People are really hungry now. Just working to work. I wish there was a way to stop that mentality but there never will be.

I'de have you help me with it Monday but I don't have enough in it to pay you.

Our local Pressure Pro distribrutor claims this last year has been the best ever.Every laid off const. worker or what ever is jumping on the band wagon.I can't blame them, we all want to work but....let the low balling begin.I've been firm with prices so far but have been loosing way to much to these guys.Nobody wants to go backwards but I think I'll have to reduce prices. These guys are barely making a living now by cutting prices,so if I suck up for a while and go down in price, they'd have to low ball so far down that theres no way they'd make it.I've seen all this before in 89-90 ressesion.Prices will going down. You can't stop it.

I agree with you on this point. We have several guys have started up here in town and let me tell ya, they may be low balling some stuff but it will only be for a little while. Like you say they will not be able to hang on but for so long. I'm seen around enough and been doing it long enough here in town that people recognize my truck and my signs. Good thing here is me and Russ have the only professional looking rigs in town so it helps up out alot. Many time you just have to get in front of the customer and talk to them some. Let them know you are professional and know what your doing. Doesnt take alot to discredit a hack, most of the time they will do theirselves in!!!!
Good luck and Merry Christmas!!!

Here is a driveway I bid on and lost due to price. Not sure by how much but I bid this at $375 a low ball for me. I am not sure of the sq ft because I forgot my wheel.

I wouldnt sweat this one....to have a house like that, they are overcharging for whatever it is they do for a living and would prob be a pain in the rear to do work for!!! The homeowner would not get out there and clean it themselves for any less, they are just using yall against each other to cut each other throat!

Well put! :thumbup2: They love to play games with all of us to see who is the hungriest.

Yeah im not sweating it. Customer said I was the most professional one that came out but he had to go with price. I dropped my price to 325 on a package deal on his parents house a block a way that would have been an additional 550. You win some and loose some. I had another one for a PM I bid close to 1800 on a 14k sq ft steep roof the pm came back to me and said that I was out bid by 600 bucks. She said she preferred my services but could not justify the differance to the board. She asked me to meet her half way so I did I do that roof in January! Keep on Keepin on! Perfection is an illusion, Hardwork and determination = results

This is the key point here, they are only focused on the price.

When you are in this situation, is there anything you can say or do to get them to think about quality work, not damaging the property or anything else so they might think that maybe going with the low price is not the best idea?

Maybe they have not been burned by the lowbidder/lowballer/hack before or enough to justify paying the higher price, but is there really anything that you can say or do to get this kind of customer or is it just better to walk after giving the price?

Ron, what would you have said or done if you were in this situation or a similar one when trying to get the customer?

Thank You.

Some people can be pushed and will buckle to a little pressure. Me however you push me and you will loose me as a customer instantly. Due to that I will never push a customer I will give them the facts about my company and processes then I let them decide with no pressure!
