WHAT TYPES OF SOAPS,CHEMS,AND TYPE OF EQUIPMENT THAT YOU USE TO GET THE JOB DONE.
please list all the types of chems and how you use them to arrive at what you do now,and why.
aAre you happy with your current system or just the best of what you've learned? What could make it better?
I started this as kind of a "consumers reports"
but its newbie season and no one is going to post much here.
just like that contest no one is going to give up anything good.
everyone is afraid to step on toes, because the consumers are directly related to the sellers.
Rom M now i see why you just let this run its course. It tripped.

Gee, I wish I knew what you were talking about.
For fleet washing, I use basically two chemicals. The first is r-109 from Delco, and the other is DNB-1433 from Delco. (no, it is not a mistake, it is 1433) They both work good, and the DNB-1433 is really good stuff.
I also use DI water, brush and squeegee windows clean.

Now before you go off and say DI water is too expensive and you need to do this and that, you need to remeber that the water here in Arizona is about 850 grains. There are spots on the east coast that are 85 to 100 grains of hardness. That means our water has 8 to 10 times the minerals in it that yours does.

What could make it better?
An acid that is not as dangerous as Hf that cleans as well. Soaps that truly clean, No Touch. A way to keep the water wetter so that it is not dry after 30 seconds in 95 - 100 degree weather. A wooden brush pole that is 8-9 foot long, instead of the standard 4 to 5 feet.

thanks scott

thats the type of thing im looking for.
What types of soaps did you try before you settled on delcos stuff and when was the last time you gambled on a new type?
My gamble is costing me about $90., but i am getting my PRIZE from the same seller.
Thank you and Russell. Went with his deck stripper.
No not the hd80. Its just not for me right now.
maybe one day.
Scott the 1433 kit makes 110 gal of concentrate?
then you use the concentrate in your downstreamer at about 20%? this is your pre soak? then hot upstream your r109? then rinse with wax and water?
have you tried 1 gal of dbn1430 mixed to 10 gal of the r109?
What do you use[tool] to mix the soap?
in delcos paper in chem. selection they dont post any info on the 1433. Prob. why i never tried it.
asked someone at delco about it once and they said it was nothing to write home about.
is it OK on polished alum. the dbn1430 will burn raw alum. if mixed too strong.
someone should make a grifite composite pole like a fishing pole , only ridged.
saw a guy once that used the walking stilts that drywallers use to brush trucks that guy was fast.

Hi Ron p,

We use a sodium metasilicate based product called BC 98. We buy it from the manufacturer/distributor Craft Labs in 55-gallon drums. We fill 5-gallon jugs of the product to put on our trucks. We use hose end sprayers (1/2 gallon) to apply in a 1-10 up to 1-3 solution. Application pressure is around 100 psi.

We brush using 24" soft bristle woodenhead brushes. When needed we use 4 or 6-foot aluminum poles (they can thread together) to reach high areas.

We usually use ambient temperature water. We pretreat oil/grease/bugs with the same product 50/50 or straight. Prewash areas that need it (leading edges, wheels, etc) get big pieces off. We then apply our detergent, brush and rinse.

We rinse using 6504 tips at 22-2500 psi.

I am currently using a product called Photo Finish from
ETS in Phila, Pa area. Dual wand(low/hi pressure at the
turn of a valve). I soap down about 4-5 trucks at a time
then go back and rinse. That was when the weather was
colder about 40-50 degrees, now that it will be hotter I
guess that number will diminish to 2-3 before rinsing.
I get the soap 20 gals at a time and am able to wash about
30 trucks with 7 gals at 16oz per minute with a 3 gal/min
pressure washer. ETS has some soaps that are more caustic
but the paint jobs on the trucks are older and I want them
to last. I purposely use only 2000 psi so I will not chip
off paint as I wash. I will have to admit Photo Finish
was the first product I used and it worked so well I have
not decided to try any others.

TUNA your telling me you have a non-caustic soap that you can downstream on and pressure off with no brushing and it cleans very well?
im sorry but i cant believe that, but then again im trying a soap that is supposed to do it.
Brushless car washes only let the soap have a 10 sec. dwell time and they get your car clean.
but im guessing your only useing cold water?
Whats a 20 gal drum of that stuff cost?

ron p

dave brushing fleets will prob. get them the cleanest but owner op. trucks have too meney areas that are too hard to get at and i like 2 stepping.
im also a 1 man show.
do you use a wax? water softner? hot water?

This is how they did it before you could make a Facebook poll in 3 seconds
