sodium hydroxide

good question however I would venture to say about 5lbs. We mix are able to mix up about 3lbs fairly easily

I use about a 12 oz cup of caustic per 1 1/2 gallons mixed with Hot Water in a pump up sprayer.. to clean hoods .. Oops did I say hot water again... I meant Really Hot Water.. You know you got the mix just right when the pump up sprayer dances in the sink.. LOL

Is that a down streamed formula Russ???

Yes and we promise it's hot even when DSed.

You can dissolve about 5lbs.This is what I call EXTREME LAVA.It will soften a plastic(5gallon bucket) container enough you can/will push a thumb through it.
Just don't do it the burns are painful and take a very long time to heal. Not to mention it will leave purple scars on your skin.

Now thats hot!

I have mixed 55 pounds into approximatly 20 gallons of water before and it was hot for 3 days.

And yes I downstream everything I mix

That will eat a coil alive in 7 minutes. I've tested it. :butcher:

1/4 th of that and you've got a good coil cleaner for around $2.00/ gallon that costs you $25.00 gallon at the supply house.

What ever you do just use caution.I put my self in the hosp.for 5days with one of my special potions .some of these acids if you have any cuts will go into your system and eat your calcium.dame near lost half my hand. All because i took my safty gloves off .Also i had been working for about 36 hours.not a good time to start playing with the A s

Wouldn't caustic be too harsh for the coil? I have talked to Rex (PressureWasherProducts) about de-scaling a coil that has been used for years. He made a very good point that coil should be de-scaled little by little starting with lighter acid mix. By stressing it directly with strong mix, there is a big chance to get the coil clogged. Also an old coil most probably has gotten a lot thinner with the years of use which is another factor to consider when using a strong vs light acid to clean it.
Saying all above, I am little concerned about down-streaming caustic on casual basis through the coil in therms of its longevity. From what I have read and researched, the coil seems to be the most expensive part of the pressure washer unit.

P.s. sorry if it was a lil out of topic

Fox, Tony's talking about an air conditioner coil. Downstreaming would be past your heater coil, caustic is the opposite of what is needed to descale it.
