MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
Some Twin Cities restaurant owners are fuming over a cooking exhaust cleaning fee. This week, the city of Minneapolis implemented the permit cost to ensure the units are cleaned at least annually.

Restaurants are charged a minimum of $130 per cleaning to pay for fire inspections. For some restaurants, hood cleaning is a monthly necessity.

So restaurants are now charged a $130 (permit) fee per cleaning.

All it means is that restaurant owners will be doing it less frequently. Here come the fires....

Minneapolis is out of control when it come to taxes and fees and such. They actually have a hospitality tax on all restaurants already, which is over 10%. If you eat at a restaurant in Minneapolis (downtown) get ready for sticker shock. And, if you like to drink, you better bring your Visa, cause its REAL expensive. Idiots!!

What a shame such good hockey there. Minnesotans are some of the most resilient people I've ever met. How long will they put up with that?

Big population of Scandinavians up here, and they put up with a lot. The city is hurting for money real bad. They just laid off 40 police because of an accounting error concerning fleet vehicles (6 million bucks). They're grasping at straws now, and the local government officials are big libs, and morons to boot.

The accounting "error" is ridiculous. What you have is people that feel they have no accountability. They could have bought those cars many times over and sold them to taxi companies 3 years later like they normally do. They just feel the river of money that they get from the taxpayers will keep on flowing...

It's amazing the difference in the cities vs the outlying areas. Sioux Falls is just a little less liberal than Minneapolis, but the smaller towns around are nothing like that. On the other end of the state, Rapid City has more of that "old west" atmosphere like it is out here in Vegas and they are VERY conservative. If I ever moved back that way I'd move back to Rapid City. It was easy to do business there and most of their laws were common sense.

And the companies would not be compensated for the additional work.
Of pictures! But guess what!
Minneapolis fire inspectors then review a minimum of 11 photographs.
So how much to view 11 photos?
"We came upon it based upon an average of 2 hours of time put into each one of these inspection," Tyner said, at a price of $65 an hour.
