Back to making video Reports

Tony Shelton

BS Detector, Esquire
We don't make video reports unless the customer asks for it usually. We've got a lot of new coil cleaning accounts this year that are at the beginning of multiyear annual contracts so we want to start off the contract right by showing them what we can do for them.

Here is one from this week.

Great idea, Tony.

2 Suggestions:

Ditch the music and go with a voice over instead - I think you could explain the benefits of what you are doing much better than just simply typing them on the screen. Script it and do a nice voice over. If you don't like your voice (like I don't like mine) have your wife do the voice over.

Instead your logo and stuff at the beginning, have the company's logo that you are doing the service for plastered up there. You can still have yours at the end, ... actually, I have a better idea, I'll pm you about it ;)

I'll try the wife next time. I sound like a dork. (I'll have to keep the music lightly in the background though, Customers have called me and asked me about the music before and I've turned them on to good Christian music because of the videos.) When you don't have very many skills at sharing your faith (like me) you have to use what works! :)

Cool Tony, I got to ask what or actually how did you get into the HVAC cleaning gig. Its just not something that you hear about very often, do HVAC repair companies normally offer this? If not they probably hate you cleaning those units because I am sure it cuts down on service calls. Can that be done, with any benifit on regular residential units?

We owned a 6 day a week business. In 1994 Shelly and I asked God to give us a business that would allow us time to take vacations and visit our relatives. 6 years later here we are.

I installed my first central unit at age 12 and was an electrician in the Navy and for a short time afterwards so I wasn't afraid to get into it.

Many of the larger HVAC companies are "full service" meaning they get paid quarterly to cover everything including all breakdowns. Those type of companies love us because we save them money.

I clean my own at home twice a year.

Tony how do i clean my unit at home? You can PM me if you like or call thanks how often should this be done?

By cleaning that stuff for free and presenting it as professionaly as you did, you just secured your contract with them for life.
Good move

We didn't do ALL these for free. We cleaned three of them for free 6 months ago, made a video of that with before and after pics, then worked them hard for 6 months.

Now it's an annual contract with an automatic renewal without 90 days notice including all filters and belts.

This was 2/3rds of the contract (another huge medical building will follow in about 2 weeks when we get to that part of town.)

These three sets of buildings alone are almost 10k/yr. My first year outlay for filters was almost 1/3rd that, but I've been doing filters there for three years now. This is just the first year to add belts and coil cleaning.
