Sewer Jetting Or Drain Cleaning??

A-OK Pressure

A-ok Pressure Washing
I'm looking into adding sewer jetting or drain cleaning to my business. Have any of you done this type of work? I have been doing quite a bit if research and it looks to be fairly uncomplicated, not saying it's easy or not difficult just the basic idea is uncomplicated. With the exception of a sewer camera it is relatively in expensive to get into.
Being a seasonal business in the northeast this might be a good add on or direction to go to fill in the blanks of winter months and in between washing.
Any thoughts, comments or advice would be great!
Thanks
Attila

There are several bigger outfits around here that advertise $99 drain cleans. I know a guy that ran a company. Said they had guys on call 24/7. They were licensed plumbers don't know if that's required here or anywhere else.

I have a hard enough time holding my breath unclogging my own crappers let alone someone else.

Good for maintenance and grease. Not for emrgency sewers that are already jammed up and not moving. If the sewer is clogged w/ roots, you will need a cable with a cutter head to free the line. If its clogged due to a break or connection malfunction, pressurized water wont help. I modified a 20hp 5.5 machine with a bypass so I can leave it running, acquired 200ft of crapper hose with the reel, foot pedal, etc. It wasnt quite enough power to cut out the rest of the roots. A buddy of mine bought a diesel 40gpm tow-behind jetter. First time he used it he blew up the line, a very costly 1st time trial. If you can do maintenance on a commercial establishment that does alot of grease and cooking it might be a good add on. I did a 15 year gig in the crapper biz.

HOT water is MUCH for greasy drains than cold.

I've supplied systems to several Drain Jetters over the years..

Without committing to 24 hour service.. here's how you make friends REAL fast..
Go to those restaurants you clean for, and tell them you can do
a "maintenace rinse-out" of that food-grease that cloggs their drains..
you have HOT water, which does a MUCH better job rinsing it out compared to
the cold system the plumber charges too much for using..
It's a GREAT add-on to hood n duct cleaning, or just a regular sidewalk cleaning gig.

A drain-jetting hose n reel could be the BEST investment you'll make
next to reclaim that is. :)

Ed,
How did you know you had roots in the line?
I'm looking to do the same thing you did. There are nozzles that cut through roots.
