Small gas vacuum system

I told someone that I would post this on the bbs's to see if there is anything out there that will help them.

They are looking for a small gas powered vacuum system for their trucks for fleet washing.

I don't know if they have a generator on the truck but they want gas powered so maybe no generator so that means no sump pumps that are A/C powered, maybe a D/C sump pump would work but would be very slow pumping it up into a truck.

I am guessing that they block the drains and at the end of the job they drive the truck over to the area and want to vacuum up the water but don't want or need something like the Scirocco, they want something a lot smaller, maybe with only like 20' of vacuum hose. Again, probably no generator so the shopvac will not work.

I saw a competitor that had a 200 gallon steel tank with a gas engine/vacuum blower on top of it and no primary drum (probably a nightmare to clean out the sludge when that time comes around).

Not sure of the amount of water to be vacuumed up but just trying to help them find something.

They don't want a huge vacuum hose reel, expensive vacuum system or anything like that, just something to vacuum up the water at the end of the job. Maybe there is a room issue on the trucks besides no generator?

Any ideas?

I was thinking of a smaller gas vacuum but would still have to have a primary drum to catch the dirt/water so it does not get into the vacuum but maybe there is something out there that is just not that well known or popular?

Thanks.

Our SGV's are now available in a Vertical version.. (smaller footprint !!)
..with belt-drive generator to run the pump-outs.
there's no way to bet around the AC pump-outs..
you MUST have the perfomance to overcome the vac.
on the other-hand..
Our PEV2 on a 5000watt generator works great,
and less expensive
and smaller footprint
for up to 10gpm with VacuBerms.

Go buy a 3'x4' job box on craigslist and put steel casters on it. Plumb a 3" dump valve and mount a honda pump on one side and plumb it up for a pick up and a discharge. The pop top on the job box makes access easy and ou can seal the edge with a bead of silicone

Sounds nice!!

Pics on you website would be great.

How much smaller is the footprint,

what is the maximum height?

How many pump outs can the generator handle at once?

If he's looking for exclusively wet, they can modify the tank for the float cutoff, etc. If he wants to be able to vacuum dry as well, it's easy to add a wet pre-separator.

Thanks for that link, I will send it to him and it might do what he wants.

It has to be gas.
It is going to stay on the truck.
It is for liquids only.

Since he is only going to vacuum from about 20' away from the truck or right at the truck he does not want to buy a system that is overkill for his needs, he only washes trucks, no flatwork so no surface cleaning tools or anything else is needed or wanted.

This is about the only thing that small that I have seen so far that will probably do what he needs and less expensive than a surface cleaning recovery vacuum system which he does not want or need.

I wonder if there is a market for small gas powered vacuum systems?

What would be perfect is a gas powered version of the shopvac that Tony Shelton uses for Evaporator cleaning. It vacuums and pumps out at the same time but........it is A/C powered unfortunately.

He does not want to add a generator to the truck, very little room left from what I think so space is an issue.

Thanks.
