Company health insurance

Anyone provide health insurance for their employees?

I am going to shop around for prices next week but wanted to check to see if anyone can tell me what I can expect to be paying or recommend a carrier.

I am thinking that by providing this I can attract better candidates in the future and/or keep good employees.

Thanks for any input.

I have always carried my own policy with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of FL, best policy out there and most everyone accepts it. I pay for me and my wife and I had a policy on my son when he worked for me. The 3 policies ran around $2500.00 Bi monthly. It depends on age and pre- existing conditions, I dont care what Obama say's.

We are paying the same amount now for just the 2 of us, they just keep raising it every 6 months or so.

Call OBAMA......BR 549

WE use a leasing company, they offer group policy rates to any company that is using them for payroll services. Very competitive rates..

BUT be aware that if you are going to use your company pay for your policy, I believe that Florida law says you have to pay for all of your employees, on the exact same level that you buy for yourself. You cant just buy yourself a policy with full 100% great insurance, and not pay for the exact same coverage for your employees. However the employee can opt out of some part or all of the coverage that you offer. You DO NOT have to make your employees aware of your particular coverage, the leasing company will go over with the employee what coverage is available, so if the choose the bottom line coverage you need only pay that part, but if the choose the Cadillac great coverage that you have then you must pay that portion for him.

With all the interest and talk of the various ORGS and for the "betterment of the industry", why have none of them put something together for insurance? Just curious.

I for one am agaist that being the efforts or and org. Yes they failed horribly.

I truly dont want to see the PWNA on that path.

Orgs biz are education and awareness. Help us be more visible to our customer and proffessional.

Power in number!!!! not for insurance discounts but agaist ridiculous goverment intervention.

Sorry Mike, I have seen the mistakes three times on the insurance deal....in 25 years. If we make that mistake again I'm done and will start my own org.

That is some great information Joe, thanks. I will see what is available here.

Ron,

What has happened in the past with insurance discounts and the PWNA?
Insurance is so expensive that even a moderate discount could be a great savings for a member and their employees. I would be interested in knowing what the pitfalls have been. I sure would love to see a discount program personally.

I'm just agaist it, of course I'm just one voice and do not decide the outcome for the majority.

This is a better question for the BOD to maybe answer if they dare.

I say dare because all these orgs have gotten into great trouble promising things they cannot deliver.

I want to see stuff like this, but reality PWNA and any other related org is far from making this a reality at this stage.

I want the orgs to focus on customer awareness and education strictly. Stay focused and keep on track for once is my 25 years.

I have 5 years left and I'm done. Retired!!!

I would like to help this industry because its responsible for my welfare as a person.

Its provided me with a handsome life and my children have lived and enjoyed things not possible maybe if I had been a in another trade.

Bob, I just would like the most like all. But we have to keep it simple right now. the economy is a stress on most. We need to be smart and stay close to the dollars and give people real benis that cant help them now.

Health care is a dream for 5 or 10 years down the road if the PWNA can Grow

I think that would be a great benefit and the mark of TRUE organization and professionalism. Why do many builders join the NHBA?

Education and awareness are great, but insurance among other benefits have to be part of the org's plan if it wants to be legitimate representative for PWer's professionally... IMO

Josh,
I agree and that is why I asked. I have ZERO Interest in joining an ORG to help potential customers know who we are. I also know that a little org. logo on my card or website does little to help generate new business or increase profits.

I have ZERO issue with orgs either, if they are a benefit to other guys and help them grow their business and increase sales, I wish them well. I just personally do not get the need

unless.....

they can offer something other than some information (available elsewhere) to me and my employees...like a discounted purchasing program from distributors (which I would likely already get because I either buy TONS from them or I negotiate a discount based on X number of dollars spent each year) or a negotiated discount on health insurance.

These are the things that are important to me.

PPO's, like Paychex or One Source here in AZ offer group rates and many options. But even with their group rates, my premium went up 47% for 2010. That's the direct effect of the threat of Obamacare.

Coverage under group policies not only benefit you with discounted rates, but under Federal law group policies are prevented from excluding pre existing conditions.

One work to the wise, avoid Cigna at all cost !!!!!!!!! I carry BC/BS and am very happy with the coverage, cost and availability to chose any physician or hospital I want.

I just preached this for years with the PWNA, The Other org did this last year and never delivered.

I do not want to make promises that are not realistic to anyone.

Most of these companies would not offer any Org a plan unless they had a minimum of 3 companies PER STATE....that was a downfall in trying to provide this...and the possibility of us getting 3 and one of them companies going out of business next year meant the possibility of everyone losing their insurance.
