curbs

That's Tampa for ya! Kory, you should feel pretty good. He picked you out of the billion PWers around here to give him a quote. Ha Ha!

Hahaha! He actually called me. Twice! :drag:

Larry I guess you now have a new best friend!

I missed his calls. He never left a message and I didn't call back. I think he was actually looking for someone to help him out on a job.

Interesting...I just got a pm from Marc asking what I would price for curbs and flatwork.
Haha! How about this advice... don't call and act like a customer when you want help. Alot of us are here to help the honest guys.

About the curbs and flatwork.... $0.0000000000000004506786543 per square inch.

All he has to do is ask for help. But I wouldnt help that guy. Hes too sneaky and you might not get paid. He will have to learn the hard way like most of us have. This guy asked for pricing on everything i saw at least 4 posts with him asking for prices. just on this board. he did the same on the others.

Sorry Kory that is the one thing that really gets to me/ wasting my time and people not being honest
I get one every month if not more. I always ask for a address and to meet me there. Also what is the name on the mangment company and if they cant make it I ask for a fax number or to email me

They all seem to say the same thing, cant you just tell me how much xxxx squ ft is over the phone, I am to busy to meet you. Thats when I know it not the real deal

That is great! I have recieved LOTS of calls like these, the funny (and sad) thing is I know right away that the guy asking for a bid who stumbles over simple questions like size, square footage....even address.

I have called competition before to probe, not to get help on a quote but to learn more of their biz, if they are legit, if I am missing something, perhaps they miht let it slip who some f their larger accounts are in hopes of impressing a potential client. I've have not told them I was a PM or a Customer, just Mike. Amazing what people will tell you.

I have actually pissed off a couple customers when I thought I was getting "probed"...better safe than sorry.

So if you don't like it when it happens to you, then why do you do it to your competition??
I dont call competition (except Russ, but that's because he don't count, LOL He knows he's WAY above me anyway) I just don't see why worrying about the other guy helps my business, nor do I care!!:scratchhead:

Please tell me if I read that wrong! if I did I apoligize.

I just got PM'd from marc henderson again on TGS. Should I even reply to his question to me?...which is:

Re: price am in fl

ok one person told like .18 cent for flat suface like side walks and etc that has water stains . Do you have any info about prices you can send me. i price a few jobs but i think i might had been very high i went with .18cents for flat side walk per sq

In over 35 years I have had people/companies ask how much I charge. I always tell them. Some wanted to make money off of me as a subcontractor (and thats okay) and some just wanted to know how much so they could beat my price. I am never concerned either way.

Theres not a dang thing wrong with that Mike. You have to know your competition.

Now, calling someone and pretending to be a pm requesting a quote And THEN giving them your actual email address.... thats not just dishonest. Thats dumb!

We get them all the time, but what they never realize is that they call our 800# and try to caller id block themselves, but with 800# you can not, and since our 800# is computer based, we have a record of EVERY call that we call out or recieve. sometimes weeks aprt we put certain numbers on our look out for list, if they finaly get to my extension I usualy give them such off base pricing and advice.

It is just easier to let me partner with you on the project, cause if you cant price simple things like curbs then you are clearly over your head from the get go. But work in partnership with us, and you will probaly make more money then if you tried to do it by yourself, I can bump up the prices and add additional services.
