Criminal Background Check

I call someone from the cell block they were in to make sure they are not a pedophile, snitch or a sissy! If not they get hired. I worked for a guy way back that said "I dont want to see your resume I want to see your rap sheet"

I have hired people based on recommendations and a good faith. I would like to start doing it the right way. Funny thing is when I meet new guys, first thing I look is their hand's skin.. The more rough it is, the more likely the guy would be a reliable worker under hard conditions. :)

A friend and I went to get a job at a grain elevator when I was about 18. First thing the boss said was "let me see your hands" we stuck them out and he told me "you're hired". He told my friend "your hands look like a piano player, beat it."

Pinkertons were about the biggest at one time for background checks. With the web I'd guess there are a lot now.

I have a good friend who has been a PI for 30+ years. He has done some investigations for me over the years, but never on a current or former employee. That being said, I have never considered running a background check on any potential employees. I've always chosen to have faith in the underdog. I hire my guys via 2 programs here in the valley that assist Veterans get back on their feet. I have 3 guys working for me right now, all with colorful backgrounds. Makes no difference to me what their past history is/was (unless like Russ said I too have my boundaries, no sexual deviates, snitches or sissies.)

I've witnessed 100's of men and women turn their lives around in the years I have been involved with these programs. Action speak volumes over lip service. Show me you want to work, are eager to learn and can work independently without constant supervision, and I'll treat you like family. Lie to me, steal from me or cheat me in any form and the relationship has turned into something very dark.

In these current economic times there are so many qualified, hard working American Citizens able and willing to work their ass off. Just hired a kid (28 years old) from Nebraska who is down here to take care of family matters. Met his at a gas station. He saw my rig, explained he has a PW company in Nebraska and years of experience, needed some work while here. Put him to work the following evening and he needs absolutely zero training or supervision. That is a rare situation for me, but much appreciated.

I was a PI. We got ours straight from the PD as a favor. Most of the times it was just a phone call, no paper. The only thing we were usually looking for was past fraud to shore up a current case.

Personally I think all records should be destroyed once sentence is served. If a person isn't responsible enough to have all rights restored and have a new slate, then they should still be locked up.

AND everytime a there's a failed prosecution, the state should have to pay damages and lost wages. If a man is found to be not guilty and the prosecutor withheld evidence, all prosecutors involved should serve that man's sentence, especially if it is death.

Whew, don't get me started!!

I believe everyone deserves a clean slate. And put it in gods hand, just trust in him. And use the common sense he gave ya. If your getting ready to hire someone. And they give you someone else's phone because he doesn't have his own. And is living with a friend or should i say mooching off a friend that would be a reg flag. I can understand someone living with family especially with the economy the way it is. But what happens when he doesn't show up for a job and you call the number and nope hes not there. Now your SOL.
so I say
Just use common sense and put all you trust and heart in god.

You got Rappers working for ya now? :sarcastic:

Theres a free app for that on the Iphone

I am guilty, I do background checks. I don't do druggies, and the random perverts. I don't need some tweeker cracking up on my job site. I also trust my instincts. After I hire a guy on my instincts, I usually keep them a long time. If my wife hires them on hers, well, she is married to me. They don't last.
Last guy I hired was a 53 year old truck driver. He looks like crap. Rough, ugly, no polish, When he gets agitated or pissed, you would swear he is drunk. It does make it real easy to read him. He has a heart of gold, and I have little doubt that if there was a life threatening situation, involving me, or my family, he would have my back, and if it was one of my kids, he would die fighting to keep them safe. You cannot buy that type of loyalty.
