Cold calling With DJ

I would like to see that video. Not to judge but to take it as an example to improve your selling skills.

Matt its all about Judging, DJ admits faults. People wanting to get better should be willing to accept them. DJ made a great point, even though there are mistakes he closed it.

You remember what I said? One out of a thousand people listen to advice.

DJ has shown he will keep bettering his program day in and day out. I have always said DJ is not respectful at times but he can sure learn his stuff and take it to the next level.

Poeple are Jealous of his success, he wants it bad. If you want something bad enough you will get it.

The thread was not started to Make fun of DJ, its was to show everyone doing this works.

I suggest everyone record there sales calls, I do....its for learning to better myself and training.

I would love to see this video as well. Not to down it in any way but to help me become better at cold calling customers. If anyone has any help that would be great. I have problems selling jobs on the phone. I do great in person because I love reading people and knowing what discussion to get into with them. If anyone has any help please help me lol.

There in lies your problem .... cold calling should STRICTLY be for setting appointments. I don't want to put the video back live because we now have this account and there is info on the call i wouldn't like shared. I spoke briefly at the MYS seminar at the derby RT about cold calling. When I get some time this fall I will be working on alot of videos for my speaking website.

DAMN! I have been cold calling and getting mediocre results... Meaning Out of 20 calls yesterday I set one appointment. I really wanted to see this :(

Cold calling is a numbers game. Now that you know you have to make about 20 calls to set one appointment you now know that you need to make 100 calls to set 5 appointments and so.

With respect I some what disagree. Numbers game ? YES .... 20 calls to set 1 appointment? HELL NO!!! Buff up on your sales skills and out of those 20 calls you should have 4 to 7 appointments. 5 voice mails and the rest will either be gate keepers or will not give you their time. Out of the 4 to 7 my numbers normally run like this. 1 will not by, 1 will not fit your profile for a client, 1 will buy at a later time and one I will close right away.

Given I have spent lots of money, time and effort polishing my sales skills, but your numbers shouldn't be far from this.

I would like to hear your cold calling approach because those are very good numbers. You've even said it yourself the main purpose is to set appointments.

It would also highly depend on your target list if your targeting higher people on the ladder your numbers are guaranteed to go down.

Dj, that's my point, I am avidly working to see the dynamic my mind needs to understand in order to sell how I need to. So threads like this help me to see holes and sharpen, IMO this forum needs more of these threads, really breaking down the process.

One selling tip if I can help you with something is never ask them say no questions. Tell them you will be in the area on Tuesday and Wesneday and was wondering if you could stop in and meet with them and drop of some information and what day will work best.

I'm not familiar with your area DJ. But here we have a population of about 2 million.

We have spent the last year qualifying pm's and have whittled our viable target market from 450 which included closed offices, apartments we don't want, bankrupt companies, residential pms we dont want and a host of others down to approximately 40 targets. These have been thoroughly researched and vetted and they do, in fact, represent the entirety of our market in our area.

My question is this, Once you've made your two days worth of cold calling and added your 2 new customers with 2 that, will become customers later, and have been rejected after your sales pitch by 8 to 14 (or 20-35% of your market) what then?

Maybe your market is larger than ours, but I'd be willing to bet that there are plenty of us who have saturated their market. What is the plan after that?

Great insight everyone. From the outside looking in, it looks like DJ is doing his screening and qualifying by cold calling. Further, it looks like Tony is doing that before he calls. What one do you think is better?

Maybe I should have worded that better because I will never sell a job over the phone. I want to see what I'm getting into and plus try and get them to bundle things together. If I try to sell a job over the phone then I might miss out on extra work. I should have said that I am having problems getting appointments over the phone. I am sort of stuck on what to say. Like a sales pitch. If I can overcome this one problem I think I could increase my sales drastically. Any help would be appreciated.

CompAre you produced revenue of repeat contracts. This should get fun and exciting!!!!

At the end of the day all that matters is the net generated by any program. You could make 1 call or 3000
