Problems pulling clients

Work has been real slow lately. Probably for a good month I've only had 2 clients. I did some door to door hangers, I'm now almost number one in google for searching power washers in my area. Yahoo, I'm there and Im with superpages merchant circle, I have done the html editing I need to like Mike had suggested at the KY convention. It's just been slow, not sure what else to do.

Anyone got any ideas? Kind of hitting rock bottom.
Thanks.

Believe it or not, a lot of people out there do not have computers or are die-hard yellow pages fans so having a great site and ranking good will not do anything for you with those customers.

Maybe going door to door and talking with potential customers?

Don't wait by the phone, Don't expect door hangers to get the phone ringing (my experience), you have to get out there and make it happen, do what it takes to meet the customers until you have built up a base over the years and to where they know your company by name, until then you have to get out there and make it happen.

Good Luck.

Dont beat yourself up over it. It's that time of year. Well,,,,for us here in FL anyway. Still getting work but much slower than in past months.

Well, I looked at your site and overall it looks good. You need to capture the attention of the customer right away. Possibly some flash before and after pictures. Video is also good to have on the home page. Ive got 2 Marines working for me right now and there great guys. however the picture of the Soldiers with rifles has nothing to do with what your selling. Focus on whats directly related to the business of cleaning. On the about us page make it about the business not you. http://www.oasisexhaust.com/aboutus.html With some modifications you may see an increase in calls. Also commercial work like restaurants, dumpster pads, drive thrus, that kind of work is easier to capture than residential work.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck.

Seen your article in Cleaner Times Ryan. I would use that to my advantage as well, keep plugging away. get out there with your rig and do demo's that always worked for us, Thanks for your service !! Being a marine u obviously know how to overcome Good Luck.

How cheesy would sponsoring a car wash for a high school band or scout pack? That way you can get your name out to the community by volunteering work. Any body tried that?

I love the Marines. Thx for your service to our country.

I have websites and telephone ads, newspaper, and even a local cable commercial, and Service Magic, fliers, the works.

I have never abandoned the most primitive form of marketing. It always works for me
(even though a little time passes).

"The 3 foot rule ".

Anyone that is within 3 ft. of me at (just about) anyplace recieves a business card from me. Grocery store, post office, gas station, ( I think you get my point). It sounds like you are doing what needs to be done to get your company name out there. Sometimes, it just takes time to get the business.
BUT, always have those biz cards ready to hand out TO ANYONE WHO WILL TAKE ONE.

When you are on a jobsite ( if residential) when you are finished or if you have a helper.
Put biz cards on (NOT INSIDE) mailboxes along the street that your job is on. That really helps in getting more biz in that area.

There are many variables as to why you may not be getting the business.
Family vacation season is in full swing. Schools out and people are busy with their kids, economy, recession, our country's leaders push fear to the masses, finances. Whatever the reason, ..... KEEP PLUGGING away at those sales.

I refuse to believe the talk coming from one of our country's finest to "hit rock bottom".
It is just a lull that you and many others always go through at some point in their career.

IT WILL PICK UP IF YOU KEEP PLUGGING.

If you are at a standstill now, it can only go up from here....... right?

Best of luck.

Your a Rock Star!!!!!!
Congrats on the Article in CT

Thanks everyone (ABC, Nichole, Oasis, The Cleaner, Larry, Chris and Ron aka the Godfather) for the input. You all are right on target with what you said. I'll take it to heart.

And Ron, I'm no rock star, trust me. Just a man trying to make it like everyone else. HaHa.

here's a scenario I was in yesterday. Let me know what you guys think.

I was at an IHOP and I noticed that the outside seating area concrete was in pretty bad shape. Gum, oil staining, overall dirty. So I asked the waitress, hey do you know the manager's name. She told me and was personable towards me, so I said thank you and continued to order my food. As we were waiting for our food, I asked if I could have a moment to speak to the operation's manager about my food, to make sure she came to the table to serve a customer(me) I then layed it on her. Told her what needed to be done and I offered to answer any questions she might have. Then I offered her a quote. The manager then said that she was busy and I could tell that she was blowing me off and was quite rude about it. And it wasn't the fact that I was not speaking in a distasteful or condescending, demanding way. The waitress had given me a head's up about the manager that she can be a real ***** even before I had the conversation with the manager. My wife concurred that she was rather ill-mannered with me, even though I was a paying customer.

My problem was I wasn't sure how to take the bull by the horns on that particular scenario and close the deal.

What do you guys think?
