Warranty

First of all, thanks to all the regulars for the great information and advise that you have posted on this board. Being a rookie, it has helped me a lot. I have a couple of questions on Deck Restorations: 1) Does anyone give a warranty on their work or on the product used, and if so- how long?
2) I have three distributors in my area, Sikkens, Flood and Superdeck. Any opinions on these three products would be appreciated.
Regards,
Rick

If I had to pick from those three, I'd use the SuperDeck. Sikkens is expensive, and difficult to apply and maintain. I wouldnt put flood on my deck if you gave it to me for free. Look into some other products being shipped to you. I know that isn't cheap, but might be worth it.

I do not offer warranties, however, I know that some people do. Maybe you'll get a response on that.

warrenty

I give a one year warrenty on my deck work. I use Wolman F&P only and garauntee it to look good in one year (talk about a degenerate gambler). So far so good. Just dont promise high traffic areas and areas where they place things on the deck. Also charge enough that you wont lose your shirt if you have to go back. If you cant say your deck work wont last at least a year I dont think you (not actually you) should do a deck.

Wolman garauntees their product for 2 years on horizontal surfaces.

I give a 1 year warranty on the color and 3 years on the protection. I use Swedish Wood Oil. I strip and clean a deck then apply 1 application of SWO then re-apply another application between 6-12 months later. That is when I give my warranty.
The only Flood products that I use are the Cleaners. As for Sikkens well if I have to strip that off a deck I charge 15% more. Thompsons well heck that is the easiest to strip.

Ok I can't take it any longer. These annoying banners seem to be taking over my screen when I come in this forum. Now It shows this annoying big blue banner all over my screen. Guess I'll stay away.

Deckman,
What Banners are popping up on your screen? I have no such problem. This is a great bb and if you have a problem post it in its own thread where Ron or some other moderators can help you solve it.

To not come to this bb anymore over a problem that can be fixed will be a loss for you and others that can benefit from your knowledge as well.

Here's what we tell to our customers.

" The finishes/sealers that are applied to your wood structure offer guaranteed protection from water to minimize and reduce warping, splitting and checking. The color and appearance of the finishes are not guaranteed".
