Hang Tite

I tried the Ultra Gain. It does a really great job, and covers the SH smell pretty well. I have hardly put a dent in my 5 gal of Roof Snot though. I wonder if there is anything I can add to my mix with Roof Snot to cover the smell and not kill the mix?

Good to know Josh!

I have switched over to roof snot, works better than hang tight. I think Chris Tucker is pushing the use of dawn ultra, I'll stick with roof snot.
No Mike, I accidentally discovered that Ultra Gain Original Scent has some of the same stuff in it (Lauramine) as Roof Snot. Ammonyx is a brand name for the Chemical Lauramine Oxide, by the way.
Awhile ago, several of us at the RCIA started looking for chlorine stable surfactants. Billy Jensen of H20 pressure washing in New Port Richey Florida discovered Lauramine (Ammonyx LO). I found Myristamine. Myristamine is better then Lauramine, but it is hard to get, in a steady supply.
I do not sell chemicals, nor do I "push" any product. I make my discoveries known to everyone, and have for years. Lori from PWP was actively involved with the RCIA Forum back then, so she read what was going on with our efforts to find a superior (chlorine stable) surfactant. She jumped on our discoveries, and went to market with them.

LOL Mike, I can not keep track of Lori. She has had many many names for the surfactants we discovered at the RCIA. Apple Butter, Hang Tite, Gription, to name a few!
I do know the stuff she used to call Apple Butter had Myristamine in it! Hang Tite has Lauramine (Ammonyx) in it, the same thing as Roof Snot.
However, there are several suppliers of Lauramine (Ammonyx) Mike, and there can be slight viscosity (thickness) differences, from one supplier to another.
It is very possible that Russ Johnson has found the very best supplier of Lauramine for his product Mike.
Or, it is possible that both Hang Tite and Roof Snot are the same, I really don't know.
Nor do I really care either, since I have plenty of Myristamine.
Is Myristamine better ?
Yes, it is.
It is much thicker, allowing us to use less for the same results, or if we use the same amount of Myristamine as Roof Snot or Hang Tite, it sticks a lot better.

The ULTIMATE roof cleaning surfactant is still to come! It will be a combination of Both Lauramine and Myristamine Mike.
I have posted viscosity formulation charts at the RCIA Forum that clearly show a combination of the 2 chlorine stable surfactants is the way to go.
It is hard to comprehend that mixing the thinner Lauramine with Myristamine, will actually yield a super surfactant, that is much thicker then Myristamine, by itself!

Now, the next logical question is this. Where does Ultra Gain Original Scent Dishwashing Liquid fit in, in the grand scheme of things ?
It is cheap, easy to get, and smells good too.
It works, and works well.
However, though it does have some of the same stuff in it (Lauramine) as Roof Snot or Hang Tite, I do not feel it is quite as good.
But, I am only going on my recall of Ammonyx. Myristamine is so much better, I have not had any Ammonyx here in years to test against The Ultra Gain.
The Ultra Gain also has an "advantage" some will like, because it smells good. If you use enough of it, several at the RCIA have found it does a decent job of masking the chlorine smell.

However, the use of Roof Snot, combined with a real chlorine stable scent, is still going to be better I feel.
Though the Ultra Gain smells pretty good, all by itself, or in some water only, when it is mixed with chlorine, it does not smell especially good.
I suggest the Roof Snot with Green Apple, or some other chlorine stable fragrance, vs using the Ultra Gain all by itself, for smell masking.

Where do you get chlorine stable fragrance? For some reason, my roof mix smells terrible when I just use roof snot. Maybe it's because I have to use a 50/50 mix of 10% SH, because I can't get 12%.

I think Lori from pressure washer products in clearwater florida still sells the green apple chlorine stable fragrance Josh.
Or, you can try some of the Ultra Gain Original Scent Liquid Dish Soap mixed with the Roof Snot.
The percentages of 10 or 12 percent matters not, and do not blame the Roof Snot either!
I THINK Gain might have other fragrances, besides the original scent. Just stay away from the anti bacterial versions of Gain.
Maybe they smell better then the original scent ?

OMFG Josh, CLICK HERE AND LOOK! It appears that Original Gain Ultra Dish Soap comes in all KINDS of different scents !!!!

Scenting Bleach (Chlorine) is weird, and just because a scent smells good by itself, does not mean it will still smell good, when actually mixed in with chlorine! Unfortunately, you just have to experiment, until you get it right.

Josh, talk to Russ. He can ge you a masking scent. He sent me some a few weeks ago to try and worked great. Also I use 10% SH as well and rarely mix above 30%.

iT IS GOOD TO KNOW rUSS CARRIES a scent Doug.
I was not aware of if he did carry a scent, or not.

So my question is - is the Ultra Dawn chloring stable and/or ph neutral so it can be mixed with acids or bases without rendering them inneffective? If so for how long will Ultra Dawn or any other product last without weakening the mix?

Thanks for the help! I use laundry detergent in my mix a lot because it suds pretty well and smells great - it is also cheap and easy to find, just avoid "bleach alternative" aka sodium percarbonate in laundry detergent or dish soap.
