What's your "preferred" application method for Ready Seal?

I hire someone to apply it...:jester:

If I remember correctly, Mike Hilborn's techs from Roof to Deck Restoration use the Shur-Line pads for the floor and top part of railing and they may have to brush the spindles. I took his PWNA class in New Orleans and it is a must when attending roundtables. You can't beat the price for the knowledge that you receive from a multimillion dollar company owner.

Thanks !!

Thanks for all of your great responses, it is truly appreciated. When you do the spindles are you also using the airless or pump-up? I'm very curious how you all are dealing with the overspray drift. That's what I'm having the most troubles with!!

I've come to the conclusion that there is no way around applying two coats of Ready Seal on a deck that has never had it. I admit I am impatient waiting 45 minutes to come back and do it all over again.

I look forward to returning for maintenance when it will only require a light cleaning and one light coat of reapplication. Guess you've got to pay the price up front for the cost of the two coats and hope they call back when it's time to refresh the deck.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!! :wave3:

Sorry, hands down the best way to apply ready seal is a deckster deck sprayer. They can do it in half the time of any pad or roller easily and they don't create that cloud of death like airless sprayers do.

Deckster settings??

Henry, assuming you are also using the upgraded gun with flow control, would you mind telling me what flow you set the gun at, the pressure you set the Deckster at, and the tip pattern you use for the spindles??

Also would you mind telling me the settings you use for doing the floors?

How high do you have to mask around the floors and where the rails meet the house when using the Deckster with Ready Seal?

Thanks Henry!!

I use the adjustable gun cone spray tip at 75psi but I adjust the pressure down at the gun. Spray shield near the house and a flag/tarp device I created for the rails. I van usually seal a 400 sqft deck in 20 minutes.

Is that 20 minutes to apply "two" coats of Ready Seal?? :scratchhead:

What is a "flag/tarp" ?
