About to start pressure cleaning gas stations! Need help with some pricing!!

I'm getting my foot in the door with a gas station chain and they're about to make me a preferred lender for their company. I'm in the process of making an ad for their monthly catalog they send out for their stores. I need to figure out some set prices to clean the whole parking lots including the gas pumps and side walks. Store fronts and canopies will be separate. I will be cleaning with a surface cleaner, using chemicals for stains, and removing gum around the islands and sidewalks. Some stores will obv be more dirty, bigger, or further away than others. I will need 3 different prices for the 1) parking lot, gas pumps, & sidewalks, 2) canopies, 3) store fronts. Should I just come up with a flat rate for these services or price them based on each job?? How much should I charge???

If I am alone in this then so be it.

But how will you become a preferred vendor? You don't even have a company name. Wouldn't a "preferred" vendor at least know how to price parts of this? It is a shame that companies pose themselves as professionals. And just curious, did they mention reclaim? And if you are a pro, then how come you didn't bring reclaim up? Hmmmm?

I know that some on this board defend its existence as a place to gain knowledge, but your request is just too far of a stretch. Your request doesn't prove what this board can do, it proves what it has done, make everyone an overnight hero, or in your case a preferred vendor.

I hope you have reclaim, I cant tell you how bad the EPA regulations are in Texas, every 2 months I attend a meeting here in Houston that the city holds to let us know about the new rules and regulations that we have to follow to stay legal.

Reason things are so tough now, is because companies who do not reclaim get caught, then another rule is made for everyone else to follow.

I cant tell you how many companies, that Doug from goldstone, and Myself have seem blatantly breaking the law, charging nothing for the service, and getting the work over others, who are legal.

I am sure there is no need to worry about the BMP's in or around Kemp Texas since is just outside Ft Worth and Dallas! Those are the models the others are written by.

Dude (Kevin) be careful what you say on these boards, people will ruin you if you dont have the proper equipment.

Also I do agree and am not trying to argue but we do tons of commercial work and I have never seen a company that can or will add you as a vendor of any type without Business name, license, insurance (thats workers comp and general liability). We have some accounts in Texas and it is required, oh and so is the reclaim!

Kevin, man dont be upset with these guys you really set yourself up for the bashing not knowing what you needed to know.

I am a commercial guy too, 95% of what we do if not more is commercial, we see guys that start up new and the first thing they do is come in and take accounts from us not having the right equipment and lowballing ect...... they come, they go but the screw the pricing up, the people want to hire us back but they want us to charge the other guys price and he is not in business anymore.

You really need to take it on the chin and consider it a good lesson learned and keep learning here. I understand you dont like to be ridiculed so just sit back and take a couple of days to read and understand a little more about what you are getting into before jumping in head first.

Sounds Like a Great thing, keep your head up and move forward. I have seen guys get on vendor list before they became a legal biz. Its rare but can happen, your at least knowing thats a start in the right direction.

Reclaim might not be needed depending on the location, laws and your enforcement.

Call me if you want the questions about pricing, Russ will fill you in about Gas stations. They are not my favorite.

I don't know why people ask for prices. I would be more interested in how long it might take someone to do something. Everyones costs and goals are different. People need to know what it takes for them to make money and go from there

Talked to Kevin 4 hours ago seems nice...

One quick point...he's not a preferred vendor ..(yet)

A company is trying to sell him a ad in a directory of ads that goes to a group of gas stations...

I agree. Everyone has a different break even point. I have been out of this for a number of years and have really re-educated myself this past week thinking I could do jobs quicker than I really could. But, honor your price and readjust on the next one until you get it right. Kevin their are some good guys on this board so dont judge worry more about how long a job will take then come up with a price that works for you
