Arizona Environmental

I'll put this question out there again - (This question is for everyone, not directed at anyone in particular)

Could anyone please show proof of 10 fines levied on pressure washers by the EPA or local authorities in the past 20 years.

If you would like, you can include fines were there was grievous damage (like all the fish dying because of massive caustic use)

There aren't ten.

If there are, please prove me wrong with citation numbers and/or references.
I know the Florida DEP fined the Navy a million dollars about 1996 - 1997 for allowing wash water from airplanes (contaminated with Cadmium and Chromium) to flow out their storm drains into the St. Johns river.

Made the front page of the news paper when it happened.

Phil I think you catching this in parts. We realize that on a battle ship contaminates exist that can be and need to be handled properly. Same also when washing a vehicle. Please understand that people have a hard time in knowing what's reasonable and responsible.

Cleaning a sidewalk in a built compliant place and trying to get citys and other gobs to regulate is stupid. The building code enforces the cwa, the water authority in 99% of case don't have jurisdiction.

Plus most bmp read how Tony has read them many times and clearly state your can dump the water right in the storm drain. Do I agree with that? No

We need a voice in our industry that will clearly view the side of contractors as a whole. Not the cowboys that want strict regulations because they have been already sold 1000s of dollars in equipment because someone rip them off. Now they are ready for pay back.

I am not familiar with an instance where a company has been fined for washing their buildings or sidewalks. The instances where I have seen enforcement have been with vehicle and equipment cleaning.

Exactly, when washing a Vehicles its a whole different ball game.

Some people try to confuse the two....hence scare contractors or customers into something they dont need.

Yep, all the powerwashing that can be done. Everyone else might as well shutter their doors.

I will buy all of your equipment 10 cents on the dollar...
