Breaking News Saint Petersburg Florida!

Disclaimer - I barely even read this thread before this post. I have no idea who on this board is a cop (except for John) and didn't write this post with anyone in mind. But if the shoe fits, do something about it.

We just went to see "The Grace Card" movie.

SPOILER ALERT - ----

The cop kills a masked thief stealing from a warehouse, thought he saw a "gun". He's just fine with it till he rips off the mask and finds out it's his own TEENAGE SON. Then he breaks down like a little baby.

Why is it just a PERP when it's somebody else's son? Why isn't EVERY LIFE enough to make the cops BREAKDOWN??? Why is it ok for cops to gun down everybody who doesn't "comply" or comply fast enough.

There needs to be a purging of scumbags out of all police departments. (I'm not advocating killing them, I'm suggesting they need to be purged from WITHIN their own department)

You can't tell me "There are a lot of good cops" when they sit there with their mouths shut while watching their scumbag brothers in blue beating "n*****rs for fun" (as I have PERSONALLY witnessed them bragging about) stealing money from drug dealers and screwing half the prostitutes they shake down.

If you are a good cop start doing your job by fighting crime. Start within your own department. There's enough of it within your own department to keep you busy for 5-10 years.

When you've done that, and you've learned the value of human life, then you'll have the respect of the community and you can come out fighting crime on the streets. Until then, when one of the "men in blue" gets shot, half the community usually doesn't give a crap. That's a shame.

One other thing, if you are a cop and the most important thing to you is that you come home safe to your family you're in the wrong job. Be a greeter at Walmart and you'll be safe. Your job is to PROTECT citizens and that includes citizens who you aren't certain about, and that includes that one who you THINK has a gun with an intention to shoot YOU!

The public's attitudes have changed since the 50's and the "civilians" haven't changed it. The scumbags in the police department changed it. If you are a "good cop" do something about it. And start respecting the people you serve and turn in that lying, cheating, stealing a**hole sitting in the squad car next to you and earn the respect that a true public servant deserves.

One more thing, I want to post this video again. At least one life was saved the day of this video with common sense and patience. It doesn't matter if it took 500 cops to stage this, a LIFE WAS SAVED. That is the JOB of the police TO PROTECT AND SERVE, not to go in murdering every citizen who has a gun in their possession who doesn't "comply".

And finally....

All H*ll breaks loose when public servants (soldiers, police, etc) abuse their positions and take human life for nothing more than insults or the "threat" of violence.

Our country was formed by people who wouldn't take that crap from the British.

http://www.bostonmassacre.net/plot/detailed1.htm

And there is a fast growing population who won't take that crap today either.

What do we do about it? What could Great Britain have done about it in 1770? They could have RESPECTED HUMAN LIFE and their AGENDA for the crown be D#$ned. A few good men could have stopped it BUT THERE WERE NO GOOD MEN TO STOP IT.

Thus, we are became the United States of America.

Although, I don't know what we've become today. We're a cowardly bunch of punks that our founding fathers are ashamed of. They gave their fortunes and lives for liberties that we give away every day for food stamps, social security and free food stamps. Pathetic.

That is some conspiracy theory about what goes on in the "police" world you have going on in your mind....... you just don't get it :bash::bash::bash:

hmmm......

Greg, the picture is not for you. There are sick people in this world. The police are not to blame and are the front line of defense for people against these criminals. I have yet to see in my job what Tony speaks of, I actually find the comments offensive.

Perhaps a more intelligent discussion on this or similar topics could be had and actually serve a purpose, such as why recently are more people turnig to violence to get their message across? why is there so little regard for human life? why is there increased violence against any authority figures? It does not make much sense to me. This is a sad state of affairs!

Michael, I've been in a few lines of work in my day. I've seen thieves, con artists, violent offenders, etc in most all of them. (Including the ministry).

For you to make this statement "I have yet to see in my job what Tony speaks of, I actually find the comments offensive." either makes you brand new on the job, or you happen to work in the only department in the world that is pure as the driven snow, or you are simply not telling the truth. Which one is it?

Your claim that you "have yet to see" anything of that nature just adds to the credibility gap.

The number of people who believe that nonsense is dying off of old age quickly.

There is a new group growing up who see the verbal abuse at simple traffic stops, the senseless killing of youth for minor thefts, and the over prosecution of drug use and other victimless crimes and they are developing a hatred and mistrust of all of you.

You said "There are a lot of sick people in this world"

You mean like the ones sitting at home with no way to defend their families because they had a small bag of pot 30 years ago and now they can't have a gun for the rest of their lives?

You mean like the speeders who go 14 over and get a fine higher than their car payment?

You mean sick people like the ones who shoot an intruder then sit there in amazement while you scour his house trying to find something to charge HIM with?

You mean sick people who face 15 different charges for one simple offense because you need to "make one stick"?

Are you actually saying that you've never witnessed any wrongdoing by any of your "brothers"? So lets hear it - What kind of corruption have you witnessed and reported that actually resulted in some real punishment for one of your co-workers.

.....chirp....chirp...

That's what I thought.

The thread was about a recent violence trend. I'm giving you the answer.

Cops these days kill people unnecessarily "just in case" they were going to shoot first. That's not a hero, that's a coward.

Cops these days verbally abuse and try to intimidate anyone they come in contact with. They are trained to do so (you know this)

The list goes on and on.

But, if your statements are true Jesus himself would feel inadequate in the shadow of the pristine work ethic your department has. Anyone who believes that needs their head examined.

By the way Michael, I like you personally. But you know and I know that in your eyes I'll never be anything but a scumbag and vice versa on your occupation without some real measurable change nationwide in the way you guys treat the general public. Even the older people are starting to get sick of it. And once you lose them, it's all over because they were the only ones voting to give police the power to strip everyone's rights away.

If you guys don't quit covering it up and instead work towards eliminating the "bad apples" with a vengeance this country is headed towards a Boston Massacre type moment that will change everything. It was too early at Waco, but the next generation won't put up with that.

It sure would be nice if you guys did something about it before it gets to that point. People are tired of it.

I should have started a new thread on this. The cops in this situation did absolutely nothing to deserve being gunned down like that and I'm glad the guy who did it is now serving his time in hell.

The thread turned to violence towards the police and my posts are directed towards answering why the police have little backing these days by the general public.

Who mourns for the victims of police brutality and senseless shootings? Family only...and then the police get on the news and make the family look like crap.

They tried to make this guy who they shot within 4 seconds of shouting multiple commands as he tried to comply. Of course they made his family look like scum as best they could to discredit them. And they got away with it.

Things need to change.

Snipers rock. Although I am certain there are bad cops in every department, I also think that there are a lot of good men and women in every department.

Tony,
I will start by saying that I like you and Shelly personally as well, but I believe that you paint the police profession with too broad of a brush. There are people in all professions that would be better off somewhere else. I don't see what you speak of...... for thrill killings, beatings, etc and the like you describe... by police officers. Perhaps I am a lucky guy where I work as this does not seem to happen here. I spent considerable time discussing this issue with you in Charleston SC and the majority opinion of those who heard the discussion thought that you were off base with you stance.

The justice system in this country may not work 100% of the time, but it is still one of the best if not the best system in the world. I will not attempt to counterpoint each thing that you say as you stand by your beliefs and I can respect that. Perhaps we can simply agree to disagree on this, but publically bashing a profession where there are thousands who perform this job honorably each day is inappropriate. Humans are not correct all the time and police get into difficult situations where the outcomes are less than desireable to all parties that have a stake in the outcome. Unfortunately this is life and decisions that are made under extremely stressful conditions and without the assistance of a crystal ball may have unintended or less than perfect outcomes.
I take great pride in my other job and will continue to do so. I also have been to many more funerals than I should for people that have been killed doing the same job.
The recent trend of violence in this society and especially against police is alarming.

Save the rod, spoil the child and end up with a kid packing a 9mm.(not all of them)

It all starts with the parents not telling the kids no. How many times did you hear growing up "Because I said so!"? I heard it a lot and knew better than to test it.

Every one used to be taught it is better to give than receive. Now all they learn it is better to take and receive with no consequences.

Michael, That was a gracious response. I hope and pray that when the time comes you will have the courage to do what it takes to make a difference. I'm a human being. So is Shelly. We are not the sum of our past mistakes and neither are you.

There are millions of us out there who would love to count on some level of justice when it comes to rapists, child molesters, robbers, murderers, batterers, etc. Buit is impossible when you guys fill our jails with traffic warrants, pot smokers and violators of laws specically made to create a criminal class (concealed carry laws for example)

Its up to guys like you to use common sense in the way you deal with the public.

Thanks again for your response
