Deck sealer.

I just spent 30 minutes reading results of search. Still in the same boat, which sealer should use on a regular basis?

I know ther eare variables as to type of wood, but how about area? I am in north part of Georgia.

Cost is also a factor. I want quality results more that cheap. Want to find a good balance. So far, I am leaning toward picking up Ready Seal from Sun Brite.

Please give some input as to what is your choice sealer and why.

Many thanks

Marv,

There are several of us that post here regularly that use ReadySeal. We have no complaints and since you are so close to Sun Brite, stop by their shop and talk with them. You will find out for yourself how helpful they can be and even see what readyseal looks like on some of their jobs.

If quality is what you are looking for, you are looking in the right direction. Just remember the sealer you chose is based on the results you are wanting to achieve.

Try the readyseal. You'll like it.

Ditto, been using it since 1998.

Make sure you get a moisture meter, so you will know the deck is dry enough to be sealed (below 12% moisture).

Good enough

Great! Thanks guys.

I now have that settled, looks like Sun Brite gets it. Almost exclusive on my supplies, that is.

Now to round up them paying customers.

We've used Ready Seal for 2 yrs. on all our jobs, and I Love It!! It's deffinately "GOOF PROOF" 2 light coats on horizontal, and 1 good coat on all verticals. You cant go wrong.

I also am Interested in trying Readyseal, however the closest supplier to me is in southeast Houston (100-150 round trip), or the cost of shipping and handling, either way quite a bit to add on to the end price of a job! I did get in touch with the main warehouse in Texas and they did send me some samples which I made some swatches with. However Wolman sent me some coupons for a free Gallon of F&P and one gallon of raincoat plus their deck and fence brightener and a gallon of their deck strip and I can get thier products at any Sears store. I gues the proof of the pudding will be in the eating so to speak!

Strippers and Brighteners

It looks like everyone likes Sun Brite's Ready Seal.

What do you guys like as Strippers and Brighteners?
Do you still stick with Sun Brite?

Thanks for your answers!

Here's my 2 cents worth about strippers and brightners.

Stripper, the most versatile I have used is HD-80. Will strip anything. Just stripped latex paint with it. Does great for stripping CWF-UV on down.

Brightner, if it's just grey wood and no prior coating, Extreme Solutions Citrolic and Oxalic brightner, then pw the deck or fence and you are clean and shiney. If there is a prior stain I would go with either Sunbrite's brightner or Rowletts Brightner. Both can be applied and not rinsed.

Behr is the Best and the cheapest

Sometimes it's hard to tell when you're being sarcastic. I don't know anything about wood restoration, but I'd assume the big box stores sealers are not the best.

Stick with the ready seal or Armstrong Clark. Jake Clark is a head full of knowledge when it comes to stains. his product is superior. he will talk to you any time when you need answers.
