Hose question

We're working on a lot of white rubber roofs that tend to get marked up with the hose. It's not a big deal, but if I'm going to switch hose types I'd like to at least try to get my "dream" hose.

I need the thinnest lightest hose possible for our application.
We do use heat up to about 180 degrees.
We never exceed 2600 psi. Rarely is our hose exposed to being run over by cars.
We do slide the hose over asphalt roofing A LOT and we do pull it over rooftop ledges (usually with a pad or roller to help it slide better)
We rarely pop hose except at the ends. We use hose now till it gets down the the bare metal in numerous places and only change it when the metal frays and could possibly damage the rubber roofs.

Ideally I'd like to fit 350-500 feet on a hose reel designed to carry 300 ft of standard 3/8 inch hose

I'd like the slickest cover possible.

If I could get hose that fits all that criteria in 1/2 inch I'd be so happy I'd dress up in a dress and do a jig on youtube.

Any ideas?

I'm not helping you at all...no one wants to see this...

US hose had thermoplastic hose on here, he was seeing how it worked out in the field with customers. Not sure of the heat rating.

No your right thats a scary thought...

Tony, do you really need that in 1/2" how many gpm are you using?

You can get a smooth blue in 1/4" 3000psi 300' for $297.00 weight would be 48# and it would easily fit on the reel.

I left a message with my local hose guy when I posted this thread and he told me to stop by and look at some reduced OD 3/8 hose he has. I don't know anything about it. He told me I'd have problems with the thermoplastic dragging on the asphalt roofing. I'll take a look at that tomorrow.

How does the OD of the Legacy hose compare? I didn't look at non marking hose much because Chris has a crapload of blue NM hose and I can't even fit 300 feet of his on my reel.

How come nobody wants to see me in a dress? I've lost a lot of weight. Are you guys that unsure of your orientation? Are you afraid of the feelings that might arise from deep inside?

I'll call and ask tomorrow.

Our new thermoplastic hose

Hi Everyone

We would like to introduce everyone to our new style of pressure washer hose.

It is called our Maxi Lite 1 Thermoplastic hose for pressure washing.

This hose is a smooth polyurethane cover thermoplastic hose with fibre braid.

It is rated 3500psi for ¼ inch size, 3300psi for 5/16 inch size and 3/8 inch size 3000psi

We are not sure of the temperature rating at this time.

Why we carry this hose.

About a year ago we approached the local fleet washing companies to sell them our steel braided 4000psi pressure washer hose. About 5 or 6 of the largest fleetwashers were all using the similar hose. It was this thermoplastic pressure washer hose. We offered them our 4000psi hose at about ½ the price of what they were currently paying and not one of the fleet washing companies would switch over to us with our steel steel braided 4000psi hose. The reason they would not change was the weight of regular steel braided pressure was just so much greater than the thermoplastic hose they were currently using.

As a result of this fact we needed to get this hose. Now we have it and we want to introduce the hose to everyone.

Is the hose good for cold water washing and with chemicals?

We sold a hose to a customer that is doing high volume fleet washing with cold water and chemicals and the hose is still going strong after one month.

Is the hose good for hot water washing?

We have sold hoses to dealers that have in turn sold the hoses to their customers that are doing hot water pressure washing. We have not heard back from them with results yet. We should hear back from them in a few weeks.

Is the hose good for water jetting?

Yes our ¼ inch hose is great for water jetting application.

Do any manufacturers of pressure washers sell this hose with new units?

Yes one manufacturer that we know of does this.

Does the hose kink?

Our customer that does high volume cold water pressure washing has told us the hose does not kink.

Why would a mobile wash company use this hose?

The main reason is the lower weight which translates into higher production of washing.

The weight figures are:

Without water a 150ft hose weighs:

our maxi lite 1 5/16 inch hose weighs 12lbs
4000psi hose weighs 31 lbs
5800psi hose weighs 45 lbs

With water a 150ft hose weighs:

our maxi lite 1 5/16 inch hose weighs 17lbs
4000psi hose weighs 39 lbs
5800psi hose weighs 52 lbs

Also, customers have told us a truck can run this hose over without any damage to the hose unlike a steel braided hose that gets ruined if a truck runs it over.

Our recommendations:

If you are using a 5.5 gpm pressure washer of lower and use 150ft of hose or less you can use our 5/16 hose
If you are doing water jetting you can use our ¼ hose.
We also carry this hose in 3/8 size if you need this hose in this size. We can discuss your application and supply it to you but we usually recommend the 5/16 inch hose.

Price for hoses with male ends (solid in 1/4 and 5/16 size, swivel in 3/8 size)

50ft 100ft 150ft 200ft 250ft 300ft

¼ inch $58 $110 $160 $210 $260 $310

5/16 inch $75 $140 $205

3/8 inch $82 $155 $225 $300 $375 $450

Feel free to call us or pm to discuss.

The local guy just gave me a quote for this he has in stock. It's the blue 400 psi near the bottom.

http://www.flextral.com/hose.html

I drove by and took a look at it and it's pretty thin and looks like decent hose. $500 OTD for 480 ft continuous with ends included. I don't see how I can beat that. Now I've got to go back and measure and see if it will fit on my reel. I've got a 12 1/2 wide reel with 6 inch high sides. Does anybody know from experience if 400+ feet can be squeezed on that?

And has anybody had any experience with this brand of hose?

Well, it lasted 15 months. That rig does the monthy semi refueling station where the semis run over and park on our hose. It has been pulled across asphalt and rubber commercial roof well over 1500 times. It has been at jobs where it had to be suspended over 120 ft spans 8 hrs a day ad been dragged on the asphalt countless times while moving the truck.

Got the first pinhole in it a couple of nights ago.

I am satisfied with that service interval. Especially since it is 480 ft coninuous. It popped at the 30 ft mark. I will probably try to fix it at least once.
