New Pump and ALOT of black smoke!

I just installed a Ts2021 lastnight and did a job this mourning... we've been down for more than a week, and now we're trying to play "catch-up"!

Went from from a 4GPM pump to a 5.6GPM pump with a 13HP Honda. I'm only guessing we're pushing about 2,600psi?

After the install, the motor sounded like a jet getting ready to take off, so I had to bump the the idle down a bunch. The RPM's don't increase in bypass, either.

When I flipped the switch on for hot water, the burner began kicking grey smoke. After about an hour, it started turning black and looking like someone was burning a stack of newspapers... so, I shut it down.

I obviously need to get it into the shop on Monday... (next week), to get it dialed in. At this point, I'm guessing figuring out a new burner nozzle size and a new tip size.

Just trying not to lose any much needed jobs over the weekend, ya know?:thud:

Jim don't guess - get a pressure gauge, fuel pressure (burner) gauge and a tachometer. Did you resize the pulley? You want to run that engine at 3600 rpm.

Lowering the rpms reduced the supply voltage for the burner. The motor is spinning fast enough to pump fuel, but the fan isn't making up air like it should.

Bingo!!!

Can i go back to work now?

Russ, Thanks for the AWESOME customer support, even though i'm not even a customer... yet!
