Hello,

If I want to create my own vacuum system can I use a Gardner Denver Sutorbilt 5HP blower - Legend Series. There's one on craigslist near my city, and I'm considering buying it for $1000.

I believe the specs are 312 CFM - 16 " HG - 14.9 HP - 2850 RPM
(I just need to run one surface cleaner)

My second question:

What surface cleaner with vacuum ports would you guys recommend

- Hydrotek
- Steel Eagle
- Sirocco
- Mosmatic
- or any other suggestions

Thank you

That would be a large enough blower for just 1 surface cleaner but I would run at least 18 or 20 hp engine as you always want to over-power the blower. This way you can usually run it at 1/2 throttle and still do a good job.

I have the Steel Eagle surface cleaner and it did a good job but I had Jerry at Sirocco modify it so it would work better.

It really depends on how large your pressure washer is to determine how large of a surface cleaner you can run. If you are running 5.5 gpm or larger I would go with the Sirocco 21" vacuum surface cleaner. Smaller gpm you would have to run a smaller surface cleaner, don't try to run a larger surface cleaner with a smaller machine as it can do the job but you are inching along at a snails' pace and you want production speed.

I have seen the Mosmatic and Hydrotek vacuum surface cleaners and they can be modified but it is a lot easier to just get the Sirocco vacuum surface cleaner as it is made to do a good job right out of the box.

What are you going to do about a pump-out system and recovery tank? I would recommend the Sirocco pump out drum as it is proven out in the field by many contractors.

..you're going to need , Waste Tank with AutoPump-Out, etc.

That rating on the blower is in continuous HP..
16 hp is fine, 18hp is better,
and v-twins are quieter than single cyl. "thumpers". Eh?
Since you will not be running it at full-tilt in this application..
some people run'em at 3000rpm for a little more wind IF needed.
That can run 2 of our SC21v's at up to 150feet, in opposite directions,
or one at 500feet !
..you're going to need Vacuum relief valves,
Waste Tank with AutoPump-Out, etc.
we have all that. did you get my e-mail ??
Call me B 4 you buy that blower. Eh?

Thanks Chris and Danny for pitching in..
we work hard for those referrals. :)
We all need "sustainable" relationships. Eh?
