Roundtable Host 2009
Good afternoon, Because i am new to this i am here is to get some advice, feel free to give me any input, feel free to tell me what to do and what not to do.
I am about to Clean a redwood clapboard house. the house is 13 years old and was covered with an oil based clear wood finish.
The customer has a redwood barn that was washed three years ago with bleach and tsp. he then restained it, and is happy as a clam with the results. He is expecting me to do the same but i want something better, i want a better result. after reading which chems to use this will be my plan of attack.
(as to the staining over stain he thinks all the old stain will come off with the washing)
Using cold water only I will wet down the house by section and then apply a sodium percobonate (oxiclean) let sit for 15 min soft wash the house, scrubbing where needed and only using pressure when needed.
Rinse
wet down the house and apply an oxalic acid and then rinsing, making sure to rinse well.
I understand that this will not produce the best results but i believe the home owner will be happy with the outcome. as i get better i will be able to do better work. WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question, will the plan i want to do be any better then just using bleach and tsp?how tight of a grain does redwood have? Should i use the oxalic with old stain on there?
thanks steven
